I also find it a bit funny that some of the people calling Kasabian average are the same ones posting in the Embrace thread. But that's just me. I wouldn't call Kasabian average. I just think they're a little inaccessible. Whether you like Embrace or not, they're certainly much more radio-friendly, and that'll always assist a band in the long run. Just look at The Kooks. What long run have the Kook's had? They put out an a first album full of radio friendly singles and then tried to repeat the trick and imo failed big time.

I was just using them as an example to state that the more radio-friendly a band are, the easier it is for them to become popular. Whether you like The Kooks or not, they'll never suffer for lack of airplay, and that can only increase their popularity. How big they become, and how long that popularity is sustained, is purely down to the quality of the songs. Perhaps The Killers would have been a better example.

They're too obscure to achieve any huge success. Anyone who isn't put off by their sound is going to be kept at arm's length by their lyrics, which - for the most part - are practically meaningless. They're just not a user-friendly band. I agree with you, they are a good band for today, there's hardly any good bands around imo.im sure the first 3 oasis albums beat theirs though, all 10/1
