Ok, the musician's board is way too dead for a site about a band. Let's use this thread to talk about and ask any questions about playing Oasis songs. I'll start us off: what version of DLBIA do you guys like to play? Personally, I prefer the way Noel played it in the 90s. In my opinion, it has a much fuller sound if you are playing alone and don't have Gem at your side.

I play it the 90 ways. Like you say sounds fuller.
The thing i struggle with when playing Oasis songs is the strumming pattern, they're all fairly similar but it is definitely the hardest part of the songs for me. I never quite get the subtle variations

I usually play along to FTM and do Gem's part, only exception being the solo.

I never quite get the subtle variations That could be because youre a good guitarist actually. Noel wasnt great in the 90's and being spaced wouldnt have helped. Even his picking patterns are kinda against the general rules of things, ie one up for every down. Noel did tend to go Down, down, down, down sometimes!

Fmaj7/C (x33210) D7 (xx0212) Just keep repeating so: Fmaj7/C Don't know, don't care, D7 All I know is you can take me there.... If playing acoustic I prefer to use Am, G and Fmaj7/C

Alright, new question. How do you play the beginning of Some Might Say? I have seen the tab, but I can't make my fingers do that.

I'm just talking about the little riff. I can't get my fingers to go like this:
E - - - - - - - - - - - - - - B - - - - - - - - - - G - - - - - - - - - - D -7- - 9- - 7- - 9 A -5-5-5-5-5-5-5 E - - - - - - - - - -

You have to use your first and pinky finger. Like this guy:

I do E - - - - - - - - - - - - - - B - 3-3- - 3-3- - - -3- - 3- G - 2-2-4-2-2-4 - -2- - 2-4 D - 0-0-0-0-0-0 - -0 - -0-0 A - - - - - - - - - - E - - - - - - - - - like that and repeat.. sounds spot on to me.

If I'm not mistaken, Noel agrees with you, and that's good enough for me. Plus that way is a lot easier.

Yeah, it's definitely played between the second and fourth frets. Whoever tabbed it between five and nine is either a fucking showoff, or someone who has no concept of basic music theory.

Your right actually, It makes a lot of sense playing it that way. I know they fuck some of the tabs up but in the 'official' Morning Glory tab book it's in there the way Joey said but I never imagined Noel playing it like that, far too fucking awkward.

You guys gotta remember, Noel is lazy as fuck as a guitarist. So 9 times outta 10, the easiest way is the right way.

he probably plays it the easy way live cause they have to drop the key for liam. The album version is in a higher key so it's possible that it's done using the 5th fret.

Ye thats how Noel has always played it, dont do it the other way, youl get a much lesser quality sound....

What about Let There be Love? I never gave a shit about that song until I heard It's a Crime and now I'm hooked. Every version of the chords I find online seems to be different. There is one clip of Noel playing the song and there's a fucking bottle in the way of his hand!

Nothing wrong with this one: www.ultimate-guitar.com/tabs/o/oasis/let_there_be_love_ver3_crd.htmAlthough I would change: E/C to Caug (x32110) Fmaj7 to Fmaj7/C with the base note: (133210) Am/D to D7sus2/F# ( 200210) D to D/F# (2x0232)
