This is better than anything off DBTT, and I think DBTT is third only to DM and WTSMG.

prolly listened to it 60 times now and it stays where I put it after the first listen: 7.5-8.0/10.
Really like the direction here and makes me more hopeful for the lp.

I'm not crazy about the production but I can't stop listening to it regardless. I don't think it's raw enough - but I guess that's the point.
7.5/10

It's very, very, very techno-ish, though if you listened to Tomorrow Never Knows now, it still sounds modern because of the drumbeat. FD is obviously hitching it's cart to TNK a bit, but it sounds modern. Nothing I'd ever suspect to be on an Oasis album that wasn't a remix.
That said, I'm a massive fan of that type of music, so I completely dig this.

I'm not quite sure yet. It's not as compelling and catchy, etc as I would normally expect Oasis to be... and I'm glad this doesn't appear to be a single because it really isn't something that I could see catching on massively on the radio... but at the same time, the first time I heard it I was very stoned and really dug it... It's a different level for Oasis and makes me think DOYS is going to be most similar to BHN... or perhaps a compromise of BHN and SOTSOG, which, if done well, could be stellar.

Does anyone else kind of link it to a similar vibe to Hello? I hear that a little. It's also a bit radioheadish with noel doing the oooo oooos like yorke. Anyway i think it's awesome and kind of what i've been waiting for from them

So I'm going to put my 2 cents here into this...
I really liked the new track. And to start, I'll say it's an 8/10. I loved the new direction, the modernization of how they're approaching the song. It isn't just guitars and drums anymore. Noel typically does this, but really only for when he does a movie score or something. So this is a departure for the band, but maybe not so much for him.
Now, to put this track into context...when DBTT came out, I really liked TUTS. But TUTS' problem, to me, was that it never "peaked". It's a great track that just felt never reached a crescendo. I also really liked LTBL...but there's a track where the last half of the song was just lazy. Lyla? It was okay...standard boilerplate Oasis, and to me now, it's a skipper when it comes up on the iPod.
Now FD? It does reach a nice crescendo...and yeah, I'll admit some of the lyrics in the chorus are a little loose (I think someone said they almost sound made up on the spot). But it's an otherwise tight song that you can tell they followed through all the way to the end.
Honestly, it doesn't sound like typical Oasis -- and that's a good thing. I don't see this as an album-filler, and I see this, in many ways, as, if not radio-friendly, then certainly bar/club/lounge friendly in the US. If we're talking about marketing, then this track is closer in-line with what Coldplay churns outs...and from a biz perspective, that's not a bad thing.
If this is the trend we can expect from the new album, then I think we're in for a treat that actually delivers (as opposed to HC, SOTSOG). Hee's hoping!

Not every song is going to be good - we're going to get at least 2 poor tracks per record Sadly true. Bit shit though - they should aim for every song to be quality.

I really wish I didn't listen to the Chemical Brothers mix before I heard the album version. Obviously the album version is better when it comes to the song itself, but I don't like the way Sardy produced this song at all. For instance, I still hear that piano from the remix, but it's so low in the mix it might as well not even be there. I actually don't think Sardy's all that bad of a producer, but I just don't like the way he mixed this song.
As far as the song itself...I say POTQ part 2 is a great way to describe it. 8/10

I'm after listening to it about 50 times,...... but to be honest the reason I keep listening to it is because I want it to better. Last night I said it was "brilliant".... I take that back because it's not brilliant or maybe I just didn't make up my mind yet...
I'll need time to get used to it. Does anyone agree???
