It's better than anything on Coldplay's new album. Bloody hell, you're like the Rain Man. "Yeh right, yeh right, better than Coldplay, better than Coldplay. I'm an excellent driver."

I think it's pretty underwhelming. I'm thinking this could be yet another album with a couple of good singles and loads of average album tracks. If Noel's songs are of this quality, and we get stuck with more songs like "A Bell Will Ring," and "Hung In A Bad Place," from those other two... this isn't gonna be a good album. Saying that... if TSOL is good tomorrow, I might change my mind .

Not every song is going to be good - we're going to get at least 2 poor tracks per record - cough AGN cough (as has been the case for every Oasis - bar DM lol) Since I gave this song an 8/10, I wouldn't mind 9 more of this quiality, and only 2 sub par songs! Plus, we all know there will be at least 2 songs better than this - I'm Outta Time sounds promising for one. If anything, Falling Down should show you that this album is promising, and if TSOTL is an 8/10 song (or thereabouts) then we're in fine shape. I really dont get the negative nancies on here....Keep the faith, Oasis are well and truly back. Has someone turned back the time to 1995?

LMAO " Dad lets me drive slow on the driveway every Saturday. 'Course the seats were originally brown leather now they're a pitiful red. Better than Coldplay, I hate so much Violet Hill, it's a 1949 Buick Roadmaster. Straight 8. Fireball 8. Only 8,985 production models. Dad lets me drive slow on the driveway. But not on Monday, definitely not on Monday."

How can people give it 7 or below? You need to understand that sometimes people have different tastes and opinions to your own. On second listen this morning I like it a little better. Guess it could be a grower but its just not really my cup of tea. The instrumental segment and the Indian strings are good but the melody and drum loop is just way too repetitive and Noel has nicked the Waterfall bass line AGAIN! Again, thats must my opinion. I'm glad people like it. 6/10 for now EXACTLY! You and i are on the same wavelength. I really like the overall sound and the instrumentation but something is just off about it. I'm not a huge fan of the vocals. I don't think the softer style of singing in the verses suits Noel's voice. I think this would've sounded great on SOTSOG but I can't rate it higher than a 7... maybe 7.5 if I had too much sugar. I, personally, don't understand how anyone can say this song is better than TIOBI. It's a good song but it's not an instant classic.

We might not ever get a new "rock ´n ´roll star" or a "morning glory"- song, but if they dont put out songs like "all in the mind", "hung in a bad place", or "a bell will ring", I´ll be happy. They really need to raise the bar, and at least they´ve done that with this tune.

On the other hand - imagine if this is one of the less good tunes on the record, it would still be better then most songs they´ve realesed on the last 3 records! We really cant judge anything from just one tune!

We really cant judge anything from just one tune! Not at all, not at all. I HOPE the album resembles this song. I hope they put this much effort into each song with various instruments and different electronic sounds. It definitely has me a little more hopeful. Even if i'm not totally blown away by this record it will be nice to know that they're moving in a new direction. I like what i hear. I don't think its an 8 or higher. I think that's just initial excitement talking for most people. If this is one of the poorer tracks on the album (along with Ain't Got Nothin almost assuredly) then we're in for a treat.

i get the impression noel thinks its one of his better efforts. why else would this song, out of all the others, be leaked 2x before an official release?

Then it obviously is a matter of taste also. If you like Liam rockers better then you will find many songs more appealing than this I guess.

Anyone else noticed yet that Falling Down is a reworking/Rip Off of There Is No Drinking After Your Dead by Weller?

Bloody Hell Folks this song is Awesome. I'm bouncing!!! It's not a grower, it's a fucking classic, if the beatles had wrote this it would be hailed as a triumph.
It's experimental, the vocals are top notch, the lyrics too, and there's that swagger that induces a ''let's have it'' smile, throw a punch in the air, in the chorus.
This is a song that says Oasis are truly back...
9.1/10
an afterthought, that bbc one said none of the demo's were on the album. But i think the middle 8 of record machine could be included in some song...
Nothin on me we're getting a new chorus- so it really wont be the same song Stop the Clocks- Maybe hidden Rm- We're going to get the middle 8!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

7/10, but it's growing on me. I could see this song on the next Bourne soundtrack.

How does demo + new chorus not equal the same song...and now you're somehow hopeful that part of another song will be included in a completely different song and that's considered the same song?

Well that bbc one said none of the leaked demoes were on the album, but we know that aint got nothing is...
It's all part of a masterplan....
We heard half of FD in the remix, probably'll be the same with NOM/AGN
So why were demo versions of STC and RM leaked also.....!!!!?!!!!!

I'm bumping my rating up to a 8.5/10, again maybe reaching 9/10....im holding off of a 10/10 rating though (for now, but I can see me changing my mind about that), it's missing that little bit which would make it more exciting (like a kick ass guitar solo - instead of the cool and chilling but somewhat bland James Bond melody in between the choruses)
Seriously, if you rank this as a 7 or below you're holding Oasis to ridiculously high standards (thinking they can improve greatly off of this)
This is the best song Oasis have done for years. And by years I mean 11 years, since BHN.

ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!!!
If you feel the need you can see my posts from the last year and they have been very very negative about oasis and how I thought they had no chance of producing a decent album again.
But this song at least is imho awesome. Things are looking up
Its epic, its original (not the same rock folk) and its a good tune.
Love it love it love it.
Thankyou oasis, I knew you could do it-haven't felt this about an oasis song since I heard DM and MG-and honestly that's how I feel-for me at least oasis have produced nothing of consequence for the last 10 years .
