I posted some of my stuff here about a year ago. I've been working on this stuff with my band for the past few months and it's finally ready. I thought I'd share it with you guys even if it's probably a tougher sell as a style of music. Much more in line with stuff Noel has done. The folkier side of things, like I'd Pick You Every Time. If that hasn't scared you off give it a listen: Lovelorn

Haha yeah they're really not MOR at all. Actually became a very adventurous band, especially from the third album on. Very Beatlesque in their progression. But fair enough, you don't like them.

Didn't see a thread on here so I thought I'd create one. One of my favorite bands of all time, showed amazing growth throughout their career. Track one of their debut album being the heavy Dead and Bloated and the final of their final album (with Weiland) the beautiful piano-led track Maver. And they touched a lot of different stuff in between.
It's become quite a clusterfuck with all the lineup changes, lawsuits, and nastiness among fans, but I have to say the new song with Chester Bennington called Black Heart is quite good. Do I detect a hint of Liam in the vocals?

Don't Go Away is my favorite. Slide Away from the ones listed.

Manfred Mann's version butchers a great song. I'll never understand how people prefer watered-down crap like that to the real thing.

Forgot about The Shins. Port of Morrow - 40 Mark Strasse, Wincing the Night Away - Phantom Limb. Some of the best modern pop tracks on some of the most dull albums... the individual tracks might not be that bad but to listen to the whole album is a quest. Ah man, really? I love the Shins and I think all their albums are worth complete listens. And you don't like Simple Song? It's Only Life, September...I could go on and on. Different strokes, I suppose. Speaking of strokes, Under Cover Of Darkness on Angles.

I mean, it's absurd to devote any time to refute this, but the "ABC" song is in a major key and R U Mine? is in a minor key. LMNOP has five syllables, R U Mine? has six. The notes are completely different. Other than the fact that R U Mine? has two letters in it (which aren't even adjacent in the alphabet) there are absolutely no similarities. I have no idea where you pulled that from.
EDIT: There actually are similarities between R U Mine? and Do I Wanna Know? but you lose credibility when you say they're exactly the same song. Some of the notes in the riff are the same (although they're in a different key). And there's the superficial things like the falsetto backing vocals. But again, saying they are "exactly the same song" is like saying Supersonic and Listen Up are the same song.

I don't know, man. From the two Youtube videos I saw it sounds par for the course. I just wonder if we'll ever hear this again:
I live my life for the stars that shine
instead of...
AH LI MA LAHHH FAH THE STA THA SHA

I haven't listened to BE in a few weeks and I already forget how this goes, other than the way Liam sings "face the crowd" with a three-note run on "crowd". But this really doesn't bode well for a future single. Not entirely convinced this will be the single, though.

This might be their chance to make their masterpiece, both R U Mine and Do I Wanna Know? are brilliant. The thing I hate about R U Mine is that the chorus sounds like the alphabet song: "LMNOP", fucking irritating, that. All I hear in my head during the chorus is "LMNOP", can't stand it. Did I just ruin the song for you lot? Also, I reiterate, Do I Wanna Know is exactly the same song, just with a slower tempo. I don't know how else to say this, but you're just wrong. About both things. No offense haha

I do love Suck It And See from All My Own Stunts onwards, though. Treacle is good too. I love the darker, more mysterious aspects of them now - some songs of SIAS would nestle very nicely on FWN. "Called up to listen to the voice of reason, and got the answer machine", brilliant. Top tune, too, Reckless Serenade is. I still loathe Brick and Chair, though. But i was initially too harsh on the album, as i was with Humbug - which Im now actually very impressed with. And while I'm on the subject - Dangerous Animals is their worst song by far - it's almost unlistenable. Fair enough. But I'm still very curious as to whether you're American or not.

R U Mine and Do I Wanna Know are the exact same fucking song. Why are they both on the album? That's like having AGN and MOS together.... Arctic Monkey's are beginning to be shit at picking singles, too. Just listened to Suck It And See for the first time in ages. Almost turned it off - the beginning is so fucking poor (Chair and Brick are horrid songs, and both are singles/teasers, too. WTF?). But the album gets a lot better as it goes on. Favorite Worst Nightmare is my favorite album by them - their songwriting back then actually was actually contextualized. She's Thunderstorm? What the fuck does that even mean? Bollocks. It took me awhile to appreciate Humbug, too, but I finally got it. I haven't fully gotten it with Suck It And See, and by the looks of the first two singles, AM doesn't bode well as an instant favorite for me, either. 1) R U Mine? and Do I Wanna Know? are not the exact same fucking song. 2) Their last two singles have been fucking fantastic and their highest charting since the second album. So no, they're not shit at picking singles. 3) She's Thunderstorms...okay, so you know how there are certain girls who are absolutely alluring without making an effort? The girl in the song is one of those: "She's thunderstorms lying on her front up against the wall." Meaning she's fantastic without doing much of anything at all. 4) Aren't you American? Why are you saying bollocks?

Oh yeah, I actually really like his whole persona now. But it is off-putting at first and I can see why others wouldn't like it.

Well, there's typically not much screaming on Queens songs (none on Like Clockwork, for example). Nick did that stuff and he hasn't been in the fold for a while (although he guests on the new one). I love Like Clockwork. It's different but that's what I love about QOTSA. You don't know what's coming next but you can be pretty damn sure it's gonna be fucking awesome.

His accent is a tad upsetting It's still there, he's just been living stateside for a while now. And his "stage voice" is a strange marble-mouthed thing that I still don't quite get.

As promised I just released an EP of heavier, rocking stuff. This was fucking fun to write and record. Really different and a blast to do. Hopefully you guys enjoy listening as much as I enjoyed the creative process. jacklindenmusic.bandcamp.com/album/everest

Alex is the best and most consistent songwriter of hos generation in my opinion. When AM comes out, that'll be 5 Arctic Monkeys albums in 8 years, while he's also done The Last Shadow Puppets and Submarine. It's hard to find anyone at the moment who's matched the amount of stuff he's released yet kept releasing brilliant albums. Matt Berninger + team. I'm not quite sure whose overall output is larger between EPs/collaborations/singles + bonus tracks, although to be fair I don't think AM have existed as long. I love The National to death but they're pretty far from prolific. 6 albums since 2001. Alex's output is much more frequent.

Thanks, man! Yeah, I made sure to put Don't Follow Me first because I thought it was the strongest and as an unknown guy you have to try to reel people in with the first track. And Bardes, hey man, that's fine. I'm glad you liked that song. I've had issues with my voice so I'm kinda re-learning how to sing in a safer way. I'm getting stronger by the day and maybe you'll like it more in future recordings. If not, hey, you don't like my voice. Nothing wrong with that. Thanks for listening. You are really good musician, keep playing! Cheers. Thanks, man! To be honest there's some songs on there where I can't really stand my voice haha. I'm getting back to where I want to be, though. Thanks again for listening! And JitKenson, much appreciated. Thanks for taking a shot in the dark on me haha.

Do we have to do the whole "are they better than _______?" debate? I love Arctic Monkeys, one of my favorite bands of all-time if not my absolute favorite. But I'd rather just let it be as far as whether they're better than so-and-so. This shit mostly just causes hostility and resentment.
That was a very hippie-ish post, but...ehhh whatever.

Haha yeah now that you mention it it definitely has that vibe. I was a bit nervous about it at first because most of the songs were very moody, but the response has been insane so far. Some blog picked it up and I've got more hits the past two days than I have in the previous three months. I'm working on some more rocking stuff at the moment which I'm also very high on.
