I remember having to visit London in '95 as a 14 year old and being miserable because all my cousins were out of town at another wedding so I literally did nothing but stay at one of my aunts house watching MTV and this song 'Wonderwall' by Oasis was, seemingly, being played like every 4th or 5th video. Now with me being so utterly sulky and miserable on this trip with nothing to do that I didn't want to be on, I was convincing myself to not like this song (hey they were British and I don't want to be in England) and I succeeded for a bit. A few weeks later, I was back in the states and this song was EVERYWHERE. Still didn't allow myself to like it. Fast forward a few weeks and then Champagne Supernova was released here in the states and I couldn't kid myself anymore: I LOVED that song. To the point I'd wait like 45 minutes watching MTV for them to play the video after they teased it. It was so weird and psychedelic, I just couldn't help but be enthralled at the music video. Then Don't Look Back in Anger was released that summer and they officially had me hooked for good.

Morning Glory and CS had amazing levels of FM air play. Loved it. Bought the disk. Shortly afterward, I heard Live Forever. That and Supersonic hooked me hard.

Morning Glory. It was so loud in a way that hooked me. Funnily enough before it I was just clicking about YouTube between Noel and Liam’s solo works that I liked before actually you know, going to the band itself

It was during the pandemic. I heard a parody of Wonderwall and during one of the bits they layered Liams vocals in a way I really enjoyed. I knew the song was a meme at that point but I gave it a go. Fell completely in love. Supersonic was quickly next.

Believe it or not, Holy Mountain. Of all the fucking songs!
Heard it on Spotify random shuffle as a naïve 13 year old around late 2017, and promptly listened to the rest of Who Built the Moon out of sheer morbid curiosity. Loved it. I then proceeded to listen to Liam's As You Were and loved it even more! And that was me hooked on Oasis and the Gallaghers' music for life.

November 5, 2007: Episode 7 of Season 1 of the NBC show “Chuck” airs and DLBIA is featured throughout (three different scenes) the episode.
I turned to my roommate in the dorm and he said, “that’s Oasis.” He went over to his laptop and ripped a copy of WTSMG. I put it on my iPad and was immediately hooked. 2 days later I had their complete discography thanks to Limewire and Best Buy. 5 days later I owned my first City kit (‘98-‘99 home), and a month later, broke up with my Liverpool supporting girlfriend (coincidence). Later, I joined this forum and began to get more live performances! Crazy how I can literally mark the day that this all began for me.

Lyla, 2005/2006
I remember the music video playing on VH1/MTV, and that ballroom! I was 13 years old, and music videos and DVDs were always blasting on the stereo, as my dad was a bit of a collector of concert DVDs. However, my parents hated Oasis (specifically Liams voice lol), so they always switched to a different station when "Lyla" came on. As a curious young kid, I wondered why they disliked it so much. So, when I was home alone, I watched the video in full and fell in love with the song. The rest happened quickly - I ripped the entire Oasis discography from a friend, discovered DM and WTSMG, bought my first guitar, amp, and pedals, and the very first chords I learned were from "Lyla".

It was either Hello or Some Might Say back in 2001-2002. I randomly got my hands on WTSMG and I was hooked when I heard those songs. The rawness of these songs and Liam's vocals were forever ingrained from that point forward.
I didn't mind the major hits (Wonderwall, DLBIA and CS) at first, but appreciated them later when I played the album to death.

Live forever - summer of 94. Had just finished my GCSE’s and had a long summer off. Spent my days playing football with my mates in the park and generally doing wtf we liked. Stumbled across Live Forever whilst listening to the radio 1 day. Before that I had ZERO music taste, certainly not guitar music, the last record i bought before my 1st oasis record was fking ‘return of the Mac’…….(hence the zero taste comment above). It literally changed my life, never looked back

With Oasis back together, I thought I'd make a simple thread that can have dozens of unique answers as we all rejoice. For me, it was The Hindu Times. I was having a bad year in high school, I listened to a bit of Oasis as my sister went to see them in 2008. Around late 2009-early 2010 I got into them. In my reccomended videos was The Hindu Times. The whole vibe of the song really turned around my mood, the opening line was exactly what I needed to hear in that moment. It remains one of my absolute favorites. You're my sunshine, you're my rain. voca.ro/167wtxMHeV4t

I think I first listened to Wonderwall sung by Manchester City fans. I had heard of the song before because I clicked on the video thinking, "I know it's a big hit and I'm finally going to give it a go". I must've had a playlist of 9-10 songs first on YouTube, my favourite was Don't Look Back in Anger, but it did include TBWTL from Wembley Arena 2008 and Boy with the Blues, both of which I couldn't tell were much more recent songs than the others. My love for the 2000s songs remains as strong as it was in the beginning.

Do you know what I can't really remember. I think I just got into the big songs and then it grew from there. I want to say Some Might Say, that's the song that really grabbed me, but I can't be sure. It's just a banger of a tune and I love the rhythm of the song.

The Importance of Being Idle. Got it off Limewire initially, then on a family holida to Tunisia (I was 15) I bought the album on CD at the airport and listened to it solidly for 2 weeks by the pool. I got a load of CDs of ebay when we got back and it just got better and better.

I have one very early memory of listening to DLBIA on repeat in the car when I was a kid. I think my older sister had it on tape or something, and she was obsessed. Then when I was at secondary school they showed us a VHS tape about the dangers of taking ecstasy, which had a segment about Leah Betts, and Wonderwall played over a montage of photos of her. Very strange to think about now, knowing what I know about the band, and about Leah Betts's mother supposedly phoning Noel up and having a go at him. But that was the first time I listened to a song by Oasis and was aware it was them. At 17 I saw the video for Whatever played late at night on MTV2. I'd heard the song before but I think that was the first time I saw the video, and I was utterly transfixed. I downloaded the discography the next day, and the rest is history...
EDIT: Apparently Wonderwall was played at Leah Betts's funeral, so I guess that's the connection

High school, 1997. I was on the radio in high school and we alternated air-time with another local high school during the week, and on our off days we’d sit in the studio and “study.” One off day my radio partner asked what I thought of the new Oasis song, “D’you Know What I Mean?” I told him I didn’t know what he was talking about, so he sat me down at the portable cd player, put the headphones on me, and put the single on. The first minute of feedback and Morse code blips/noises were going on, and I was like, “Where’s the music?” Then Whitey’s drums kicked in. Then the guitars came in, and I was immediately hooked. I became the biggest Oasis fan this side of the pond. Luckily, they were at their peak in popularity in America and you could go to any music store and get their albums and single imports and posters and t-shirts. I bought it all. Then they were one of the most unliked bands in America and I was made fun of constantly for liking Oasis. I didn’t care. They became “my band,” and I think that made my love for them grow even deeper. While my friends would spend $50 on sweaters from Abercrombie, I’d spend $50 on 2 Oasis import singles because I didn’t have songs like “Cloudburst” on any cds. Those. Were. The. Days. Nothing was more exciting than hearing the new Oasis song debut on the radio, and then going to the store and picking up the cd. I hope there is new Oasis music on the horizon; I may not be able to go to the store and buy the new album, but hearing a new Oasis song for the first time is a feeling I can’t describe. I want that feeling again.

those were high school days. I was passionately playing guitar hero with my friend and there was this interesting song - some might say. when I turned it on it was over. I fucking loved it. I fell in love. Since then, my musical taste has evolved, I listen to various genres, but oasis has always been my great love

There were two.
Lyla was the song that really got my attention and made me curious. So I bought DBTT and was hooked. The whole vibe of the album was exactly what I needed and I lived the sound. Then I heard "fucking in the bushes" in the movie snatch and did not know it was Oasis, but I loved the drums. From then on I bought all albums until Dig out your soul. When that was released I imideatly bought it and loved the raw psychedelic sound, so it still is somehow my favourite Oasis record. I am one of the few fans that really prefer oasis post 2000 I guess but digging through the b sides from that era and their live sound with Gem and Andy just spoke more to me, than stuff from Be here now.

I post a lot of shit on here and take the piss a lot but this is a genuine story.
I'm 31 (born in 93) and have two much older brothers (born in '84 and '86 ... yes I was an accident) so I inherited Oasis through my brothers.
SOTSOG came out in 2000 so I was 7 and Little James was my favourite tune. It's obviously just a song that worked for me as a 6/7 year old. So I was a bit obsessed with that song and used to love when it came on the album. So from that moment I like Oasis.
Cut to a few years later and I was on a long car journey (I'm maybe about 9 or 10) and listening to one of the Now albums in the back of the car on a walkman. I loved the Beatles at this point and was skipping through the Now album and thought I heard Imagine so listened to that. It was, obviously, DLBIA and I think I must have listened to it 10 or 20 times. From that moment on I was obsessed. Raided my brothers CD collection and listened to every Oasis album they had at the time (I think this was around the time of the leaked HC album) and haven't stopped since.

Cigarettes And Alcohol - Just before Morning Glory came out.
I must have been 14 I thought it was T-rex and at that age I knew who T-rex were! Game changer.
