"It’s fitting that Paul Weller, once regarded as one of the most astute societal commentators, takes stock of the world in 2024. Some lyrics may be written by others, but filtered through his never-more-impressive vocals they become his own." Full Review: Paul Weller - 66: reviewby Richard Bowes

Loving this brand new album by Mr. Weller. I’m listening to it for the third time now. The first 3 tracks flow really well. Jumble Queen, Soul Wandering and Gotta Get In (featuring Mick Talbot!) will be great live. The most impressive one to me is My Best Friend’s Coat. A touch of Dylan in I Woke Up. His daughter Leah joined in Rise Up Singing with her beautiful voice. Fantastic job by Jacko Peake as well. matt, Erland Cooper joined in Burn Out as backing vocal. Happy Birthday Mr. Weller! You’re my inspiration and energy.

Weller's birthday is the day after Dylan's. Very fitting.
Im enjoying 66. It's a little one paced for me if Im honest, but I'm settling into it now after a few plays.

Loved his performance on Jools Holland last night and I was right - Jumble Queen and Gotta Get On are indeed great live.
BTW, I was blown away by this lady. What a powerful voice! Gonna check her music more!

I’ve only listened to it twice but I really like it. It’s a great complement to Fat Pop as it’s follow up and has a lot of the gentle soul and acoustic vibes of On Sunset. Too soon to say where this will place in Weller’s pantheon for me but it’s definitely a solid album.
Favourite tracks so far are Ship of Fools (perfect vibe to start off), I Woke Up, Sleepy Hollow and Rise Up Singing. Really intrigued by My Best Friend’s Coat.
Going to see him in November!

Definitely settling into it now. Jumble Queen my favourite track at the moment.
I wouldn't place it at the very top of his solo work, but top 10 for sure.

It doesn't sound like Pink Floyd at all 😁

I can't be the only one that finds 99% of his solo music painfully boring

I can't be the only one that finds 99% of his solo music painfully boring Are you kidding? There’re loads of miserable sods — jaded old Jam fans mostly — who love to take any opportunity they get to rubbish Weller’s 30+ year solo career, as if he suddenly lost the knack of writing music after being pretty bloody good at it for ten years before that. Sure, they like the MOR dadrock stuff from the mid-90s — probably the 1% you do like eh? — but the rest? Dismiss it out of hand, without even listening to it. You’re not special, mate; you’ve not got a hot take. Move on.

You’re not special, mate; you’ve not got a hot take. Move on. Fair enough, just everyone I know into The Jam also likes his solo stuff. It wasn't meant to be a "hot take" haha, just never seen it once mentioned on here either. I've given every solo album of his a chance. It doesn't help that his voice is starting to sound more like Eric Clapton as he gets on.
