As a child of the dial-up 90s, I still can't let go of the thrill and electricity of discovering and downloading SS.
CNS is mid-tier in an album of god-tier tracks. If I'm listening to the album and time demands that I skip something, it's probably this one.

Cast No Shadow for me. Maine Road second night version is probably the best version of the song I've heard. I love how Liam changed the lyrics. Great vocals too. The album version is very good too.

Very different songs, but CNS has the same Wonderwall flaw: same verse lyrics for verses #1 and #2
It didnt bother me back then, but now...
Sad song for me.

Probably Sad Song.
Two excellent songs, but CNS drags on a bit...

Very different songs, but CNS has the same Wonderwall flaw: same verse lyrics for verses #1 and #2 It didnt bother me back then, but now... Sad song for me. The repeating chorus is a bigger issue for me in CNS than Wonderwall. There’s a bit more variety and polish in WW. I love CNS but there’s a taint of “unfinished” about it. I think the version Noel did on tour with Gem is my favourite. But I think between SS and CNS I’d swing CNS. The Unkle version on Goal! was what got me into oasis!

Cast No Shadow by a mile. Sad Song is a great little folk tune but Cast No Shadow is a classic. One of the few perfectly-produced oasis songs and quite an emotional lyric as well. I don't mind that the verse repeats as it is a great verse. Both brothers singing the prechorus together at maine road is one of the finest live moments.
And for the record, I prefer Noel's vocal on Sad Song (though I still definitely want the full version with Liam on vox released).

Can I say Sad Song if I prefer Liam's recent acoustic turn? Although really it's Sad Song either way. Cast No Shadow is draggy and dull. I'd even take Hey Now over it.
