OK get ready for a controversial comment...
I thought it pretty much on first listen to the LG/JS album, but the drumming (Joey Waronker) is sensational.
I then saw the man in the flesh last night at the Troxy and I'm throwing this out there...
Joey Waronker is the best drummer ever to have appeared/played on any Oasis or Gallagher project. The bloke is unbelievable.
I don't say this lightly as I'm a huge McCarroll, White and Starkey fan - all of whom have signature sounds and standout moments.
But Joey is another level - technically sublime and you can see the chemistry between him and Squire. There's a reason he not only recorded the album but then went on tour - Squire loves to be surrounded by musicians as good as him, and Joey is different class.
Thoughts??

Joey is gold standard when it comes to session drummers though- has played with so many different brilliant artists down the years.
Kept the good ship REM on the water for a while, and started out as Beck's drummer, where he was a bit of a showman too.

I wasn't overly paying attention to him on Tuesday, I was focused on watching Liam and John and seeing how they interacted on stage.
From what I heard and saw, he was very good. Maybe next time he can tackle some of Reni's work to see how he gets on with that...
