It’s a really good gig isn’t it, some real energy and passion behind it Yeah, I agree with you and I still listen to it now and again on YouTube when I'm listening to oasis's concerts on there. I don’t think the Leeds Festival gig is really that well known amongst the fans. It was quite exciting at the time as there were rumours the band were going to break up that night on stage as it was the last gig of the tour, hence Noel’s, “this is not the f@ king funeral” comment. I remember listening to it on BBC Radio 1 that night. Sadly I think they cut GLIO and WFL.

Sadly I think they cut GLIO and WFL. yeah, they did cut the first two songs on the Radio One broadcast probably due to not having the time to fit them in the broadcast. You could be right about the gig not being well known amongst fans and I remember the rumours about the band spliting up at the time which we know that they didn't.

Mikey Howard, the lightning guy. I love how they slagged him off during gigs when he screwed up again. He must've been fired after the tour? I remember at the Leeds Festival gig at the end of August 2000 Liam and Noel wanting him to put the lights on the crowd before Rock n Roll Star, they gave him a bit of a hard time. From 1:12:14 1:12:34 Liam - “lights dickhead” 1:12:47 Noel stops the song and asks him to put the lights on the crowd I never picked up before that Noel played the Fleetwood Mac - Oh Well riff at the end of the Cigarettes and Alcohol/whole lotta love bit at 49:30

Here is a copy of the tour itinerary for the European leg of the SOTSOG world tour May-June 2000. You can see photos of the pages inside. I imagine the plan changed a bit when Noel left the tour on 20h May following the fight with Liam in Barcelona www.ebay.co.uk/itm/304642367727Mikey Howard, the lightning guy. A short interview with Mikey Howard, the lighting guy, as part of the oasis: behind the scenes documentary.

2000-02-01 MTV Europe Acoustic set with Noel, Gem, Alan and Mike Rowe. Who Feels Love and Sunday Morning Call
Never understood how Gem allowed someone to attach a camera to his guitar with black gaffer tape! I believe he is playing a vintage Epiphone Frontier 110N. Mike Rowe is using the Novation Bass Station for WFL but it appears to be attached to a effects pedal unit, you can see it at 0:03.
Interview with Zane Lowe believed to be from the same session
Another interview from the same session

Where Did It All Go Wrong There are a few different versions of this song which all work well and show it’s quality. Demo version possibly recorded at Supernova Heights while Noel was working with Paul Strangeboy Stacey in 1998. Semi Acoustic version released as part of a two track US promo Version recorded for the Later with Jools Holland Show with just Noel, Gem and Mike Rowe on piano. A great vocal by Noel 2000-04-10 The Tonight Show with Jay Leno Shortened for the TV appearance and the pace is quicker too. vk.com/video-33722_168971083Hopefully someone can capture it before it is removed

That uber-chill Later... version is one of my favorite TV performances ever. I think this performance and the acoustic radio sessions of SMC and WFL really showed how Noel’s vocal had developed, certainly stronger with more depth to it that before.

thought I had clicked on the awkwards pictures thread (band photoshoot, oh fuck) There was no real thought behind posting the photo. I was just trying to upload a photo into a post, I hadn’t done it before, not a straightforward process. I think the photo looking down on the band with their instruments looks a bit odd. I believe the photo was taken by Jill Furmanovsky, whose photos are normally of the highest quality. I get why they did it, to show who the new members were. The photo was used to promote the stadium shows in summer 2000, and to be fair it worked as the shows sold out in around an hour.

This is an angle that was largely used in early 00s to shoot band. Most US bands like Offspring, Smash mouth or other were doing it as well. I guess it was a trend. Maybe to give them a more 'modern' look. It did look very american. Either above the band or slightly above. sometimes with the fish eye effect. I suppose the ones who popularized that kind of shoot is Weezer with their 2001 Green album cover.

Listened to the Wembley live version today..it's the highlight for me I love both the studio version, and the Wembley live version. Also Rock in Rio 2001 is amazing. Some of Noel's best lyrics. Haunting and paranoid. He must have been feeling awful while he was stopping his drug use and wrote the song. Many times artists best work come from pain and misery. Regarding Gas Panic's studio version, who's that guy speaking in the middle of the solo and what's he saying exactly? I can't quite make sense of it.

Noels thoughts on SOTSOG in an interview in 2005. Planet Rock Profiles 2005-08-31. Noel lists the better songs on the album, love how Andy adds Roll it Over, he obviously thinks highly of the songs from that era.
Noel’s thoughts on the album in 2010 in an interview for the release of Time Flies.

Also love it when noel plays some of the intro riff to magic pie during the outro jam. Say what you will about its lyrical content, but that song has some killer guitar parts.
