Pretty sure the article about the 10 artists was in Melody Maker - would have to dig it out and check.

Callin' All has a lyric from Sittin' Here In Silence On My Own! "Sitting here on my own" is hardly significant

Hey, thanks for the tag. Unfortunately there's nothing new here. I initially brought information about this notebook to light back in 2015 HERE (Bonhams) and daviesh later found all the scans when it was listed on Omega Auctions back in 2019 HERE . The scans are better this time around though.

This is once again fascinating stuff. Anyone else singing Roll With It or Champagne Supernova with the early lyrics in their imagination? Noel's always saying that he didn't demo anything for Morning Glory. But there must be rehearsal/soundcheck recordings or at least acoustic demos he did on his own (or with Mark Coyle) of these early versions somewhere in existence. I'm so curious about those unreleased songs, especially since they're prime era Noel, in between Definitely Maybe and Morning Glory. I guess he soon moved to London after losing this (and the other early one at the same time?) notebook in some hotel, then wrote Wonderwall and Cast No Shadow, Don't Look Back in Anger later in Paris and the album as we know it finally took shape.

He moved to London spring 1994 as far as we know. This notebook is late 1994 or early 1995 (seem to recall mention of Roll With It being written early 1995?). Pretty sure he's said that Wonderwall & Cast No Shadow were written during the break in the WTSMG recording sessions. Fascinating to see how the second album track list developed - there was an earlier version in the other notebook.

Fascinating to see how the second album track list developed - there was an earlier version in the other notebook. I remember him saying he wrote CNS and Wonderwall one evening in his flat in Camden, shortly after he moved there. Might have been his usual storytelling as well. He had also said that he had the basics for Wonderwall kicking around for a longer time but it was then called 'Wishing Stone' with shitty lyrics. Who knows for sure, probably not even Noel. However I'm pretty he had both songs written (at least the music, not neccesarily the lyrics) before entering the studio to record Morning Glory. But yeah, the development of the tracklistings are fascinating to see. I wonder how history would differ if one of those tracklists had been the album and he had saved Wonderwall, Cast No Shadow and Don't Look Back in Anger for album #3.

Who knows the truth! I know the Wishing Stone story (wasn't it a girl at a gig in Glasgow who gave him the stone?). But he said on one of the documentaries about Rockfield recently (can't remember which one) that he wrote those two songs during the break in recording sessions when he was back in London.

Just to clarify some Morning Glory era stuff discussed already:
Noel first moved into the top flat of a building opposite Eden Studios in Chiswick, London in early 1994. Noel claims that it was a place you could rent if you were working there but says he wasn't doing so. Definitely Maybe did get mixed there though on the following dates: 7-8, 11-13, 16-22, 24-25 Mar 1994. Perhaps this is when he initially moved in, only to stay on over the next few months. He claims to have been kicked out of the flat later that same year for being drunk and disorderly.
Noel claims to have lost some early handwritten lyrics after being kicked out of a hotel in Manchester. We don't know if the source of either the 1993 notebook or the 1994 notebook is from this incident or not.
Based on the songs in the notebooks and the information we have about them the maximum date ranges I'd provide for them both are Jun-Dec 1993 / Mid 94-Feb 95.
Acoustic demos of 'Hello' and 'She's Electric' were recorded by Mark Coyle. 'Some Might Say' was demoed in early Jul 1994. Soundcheck recordings of 'Hey Now!' and 'Bonehead's Bank Holiday' exist from 14 Sep 1994. The latter song contains part of an unreleased song 'Is That a Fact?' ("So shut your moaning, cuz you're wasting my time"). Other songs soundchecked at that same gig include 'Some Might Say', 'Going Nowhere', 'Stand By Me' and 'Don't Go Away'. A partial instrumental soundcheck recording of 'Champagne Supernova' exists from 19 Oct 1994. Another unknown instrumental was soundchecked at that same gig.
With the information we have the years in which the Morning Glory era songs were written are as follows:
1993 Hello/She's Electric/Headshrinker/Rockin' Chair
1994 Some Might Say/Hey Now!/Roll With It/Champagne Supernova/Talk Tonight/Bonehead's Bank Holiday
Late 94 or Early 95 Morning Glory*
1995 Wonderwall/Don't Look Back In Anger/Cast No Shadow/Acquiesce*/The Masterplan/Underneath The Sky/It's Better People
Unknown Round Are Way/The Swamp Song
*Evolved from songs written in 1993

Edit: Just listened to 'Untitled Jam #2' again... Sounds very much like they're jamming out the verse to 'It's Getting Better (Man!!)'. Hmm.

Some notes some might find interesting. I'll upload some more later. Lyric Sheet: 'Hello!'
- The lyric sheet for 'Hello!' has been removed from the notebook since it's last sale and isn't available as part of the new auction. For those curious to see the lyric sheet here it is. Front Cover
- A WHSmith Writing Pad designed in 1992 by 'Carroll, Dempsey and Thirkell'. Inside Front Cover
- The image of the front inside cover isn't available as part of the new auction sale so for those who are curious here it is. - "Vinny Davis" is likely Vincent Davies. A mancunian actor who was friend of Paul Gallagher (and later best man) who knew Noel. - "The Lansdowne" is a pub located in Primrose Hill. Noel would later mover to the nearby Camden Town in 1995 and Creation Records would move to Primrose Hill in 1996. - The telephone number "071 387 7070" is for the 'British Rail Enquiry Bureaux, Euston'. You would call this number to find out about train services running in the Midlands, Northwest, North Wales and Scotland. Travelling around the country so much obviously it was important for Noel to know if his train was running or not. Music + Me 4 Ever
- Oasis played a gig in Frankfurt, Germany on the date written by Noel - 23 Nov 1994. This tells us that Noel took these notebooks with him on his travels and didn't just keep them at home in London. Teeth Falling Out...
- In Sigmund Freud's 1900 book 'The Interpretation of Dreams' he claimed that dreaming about your teeth falling out can be connected to masterbation, amongst other things. - This page was likely written after 23 Nov 1994 as you can see the imprint of the 'Music + Me 4 Ever' doodle which Noel has kindly dated. - Noel has made references to masterbation in at least 2 'Morning Glory' era tracks: 'She's Electric' and 'Morning Glory'. Melody Maker - Rebellious Jukebox
- These are the notes Noel made for his feature in Melody Maker's regular feature 'Rebellious Jukebox'. I've attached an image of the actual piece in the Melody Maker for those curious to compare them. Lots of changes! - The edition of the Melody Maker it featured in came out on the 17 Sep 1994 meaning these notes were written before that date.

As ever great work The Crimson Rambler But has anyone ever seen him and James Hargreaves in the same room together? How dare you! I do a much more thorough analysis than him! Seriously though, cheers. I think it's great that James has done a video on the notebook as he has a large following and the more eyeballs we have on the notebook the more likely we are to figure stuff out. I think for the most part he did a good job on the video. As far more people will view his video than read my posts I think it's important to make a few notes on it. I'm not going to talk about things James didn't include, as that information will be in my regular posts, but I will talk about the stuff he did include. 1) It's nice that James gave props to the individual who made him aware of the notebook. 2) James claims we get " high resolution scans of every page" but that's not quite accurate as in my previous post you can see two scans we didn't get - The lyrics to 'Hello' and the inside front cover. 3) James seems to be under the impression that each page of the notebook is in the order that is listed on the Omega Auctions website. This is not accurate. All of the pages that have been scanned have been cut out of the notebook and are now in a random order. This is a shame as the order could've potentially given us further insight. It can be proven that this is not the original order as a pen impression of the 'Music + Me 4 Ever' sketch (which is described by James as page 2) can been seen on (and only on) the page about 'Teeth Falling Out' (which is described as page 21). 4) There's no analysis of the " miscellaneous pages" but James does a pretty good job with the lyrics ones. 5) " We have within these pages every single step of Noel Gallagher's editorial process, from beginning to end when it comes to songwriting" is a massive overreach. 6) 'Hello!' is missing from his lyrics analysis. This is because it has been removed from the notebook since it's last sale at auction and is now not part of the current package being sold. 7) I agree with James when he speculates that them early 'Step Out' lyrics (" Can you hear what's going down...") are likely just placeholder lyrics used to figure the song out. 8) I don't put much weight into the 'Slow' theory. It's a very commonly used word. If we were talking a phrase or a more unique word then I'd be more invested in the idea. 9) Those list of songs definitely aren't setlists. They're either hypothetical tracklists for Oasis album #2 or simply lists of songs he has in his back pocket. Just because 'Hey Now!' (listed as 'Feel No Shame') wasn't played live doesn't give additional weight to the lists not being a setlists imo. 10) I didn't realise "The Clags" meant The Real People and that Guigsy lived in West Hampstead... so that's new info to me. 11) 'Live 4 Happy Mondays' (and by extension probably 'Mr Monday') became 'Morning Glory' - See my explanation HERE . 'Being a Blue' became 'Acquiesce'. 'Callin' All' contains the same middle-8 as an even earlier song 'Song in a Suitcase' - See HERE . 'Raspberry Beret' possibly later became 'Don't Look Back In Anger' - I can't find my original explanation but I see others have mentioned it in the comments section in the video. 'Sports Car' might be 'Bonehead's Bank Holiday'. Might.
