Hi all, bid.omegaauctions.co.uk/m/search?page=11At Omega Auctions they are selling off a load of Noel Gallagher lyrics, some songs are unreleased! There is one in particular that has the lyrics: 'When slow, slow, slowly I have died I live among the stars with me and my guitar but slow, slow, slowly failing apart' The song is entitled Feeling Like I Think.. but I wondered if it was the legendary (on this forum lol) Slow. Some other interesting changes/original lyrics such as Champagne Supernova's completely different sections etc.

That's brilliant.
Basically all of those tracklists are Morning Glory in the works!

Yeah it seems that the owner has split the pages to sell individually.
Lots of lyrics for unreleased songs and tracklisting for albums, presumably, rather than gigs which it says on the auction website. The song lists Noel made for music magazine articles/interviews were also really interesting to see the effort he has put in.
Also Noel's golf cart which he used at Knebworth (which was painted in a style similar to John Lennon's famous Rolls Royce) is also for sale.

The alternative first verse to Champagne Supernova is fascinating to read. You can see Noel the perfectionist at work, crossing it out and eventually finding something better.

1994: "OK, All Around The World. 2 verses, 2 bridges, 2 choruses. Brilliant, got it"
1997: "THIS ONE NEEDS MORE CHORUSES, 2 KEY CHANGES, NA-NA'S AND A FUCKING REPRISE!!!"

We got ripped off with those DM and MG reissues!! X

I have been taking a closer look.
There is a drawing in the book which has been dated 23rd November 1994 which gives us a time era for the book.
There are lyrics for the following unreleased songs:
Callin' All Starchild Feeling Like I Think On 'n' On Rainy Summertime
And mention in tracklists/songlists of the following unreleased songs:
Datura Dream Rebound Being a Blue? Unfinished Raspberry Beret Live 4 Happy Mondays Freedom Sports Car
Interesting that an early draft tracklist for WTSMG is listed as follows:
1. Hello! 2. Step Out Tonight 3. Rocking Chair 4. Roll With It 5. Talk Tonight 6. Some Might Say 7. She's Electric 8. My Sister Lover 9. What's The Story Morning Glory? 10. Champagne Supernova
Fairly similar to the finished album however the obvious missing songs are the big smash singles - Wonderwall and Don't Look Back. Also missing is Hey Now, although there is a song called Feel No Shame that was likely renamed to Hey Now.
There is also mention of three Be Here Now tracks - Stand by Me, All Around the World and Don't Go Away. In various forms, we have heard demos/rehearsals of the latter two songs but to my knowledge, we have never heard a demo of Stand by Me (other than the Mustique demo).
Shame there isn't any tapes included in the auction!

They released a few songs at a time from that tape during the Chasing the Sun releases (Hello, Going Nowhere, Stand By Me, Rocking Chair and She's Electric). I believe those recordings are from early 1993, possibly just before/around the time of being "discovered" by McGee.

Not sure of that, the acoustic versions of Stand By Me, Don't Go Away and All Around The World don't have the same sound as those earlier tracks.

I’m pretty sure both the Don’t Go Away and All Around The World demos are from the 1994 sound check that Stand By Me is from too.

I thought the Stand by Me Live at Boneheads Outtake was the same version as in the BBC documentary where they are playing by a pool?

Cheers Jim, I forgot about the 7" that came with the boxsets. I have recorded them via my vinyl player but the quality isn't great, is there any high quality recordings available online?

It’s a different edit from the BBC version, either longer or shorter, can’t remember off the top of my head. Cheers Jim, I forgot about the 7" that came with the boxsets. Some notes:
'A List Of Songs' - Page A - This list of songs is the oldest in the notebook (along with Page B). - Much like in Noel's 1993 notebook Noel has annotated this song list with marks such as asterisks and question marks. I believe that the asterisks likely mark the stronger material being considered by Noel and question marks highlight the songs Noel is unsure about. - The only unreleased songs to recieve asterisks are 'Callin' All' and 'Feeling Like I Think...'. - 'Feel No Shame' is unquestionably 'Hey Now!'. 'Raspberry Beret' is likely 'New Stones/Beret' a track mentioned in Noel's 1993 notebook which was once slated for track 2 on the band's 2nd album. 'Live 4 Happy Mondays' is almost certainly 'The Mirror & The Razorblade' another song mentioned in Noel's 1993 notebook. This song evolved from a track called 'Blue' and eventually became 'Morning Glory'. 'Unfinished' could be any song but 'Bonehead's Bank Holiday' is the most likely. - 'Callin' All', 'Lock All the Doors' and 'Being a Blue' are all (officially) unreleased songs which also feature in Noel's 1993 notebook and have been carried over. 'Being a Blue' evolved into 'Acquiesce', the verses to 'Lock All the Doors' were reused in 'My Sister Lover' and the chorus was reused in the NGHFB's track of the same name. - 'Headshrinker' is notably absent from this list. Perhaps Noel didn't think it fitted stylistally.
'A List Of Songs (?) & An Unfinished Tracklist' - Page B - Written at a similar time to 'Page A' as ascribed to the fact that it contains the same songs. - It is unclear if the first list is simply a list of songs under consideration for the band's next album or a proper orchestrated tracklist like the unfinished second list. - 'She's Electric' is notably absent despite featuring in earlier and future tracklists and making the final cut for the album. - 'Whatever' is earmarked as the final track on the band's next album. The track is eventually released as a stand alone single on 18 Dec 1994. - Despite seeing no release subsequent 'On + On' is deemed strong enough by Noel to be slated for the band's second album. - Future singles 'Stand By Me', 'All Around the World' and (Japanese Single) 'Don't Go Away' don't appear to be in consideration at this moment in time. In Noel's 1993 notebook 'All Around the World' was slated as the final track to the band's second album but having missed out on 'Definitely Maybe' it appears 'Whatever' has taken its place.
'A List Of Songs' - Page C - This list of songs was written after 'Page A' and 'Page B' had been written. 'Talk Tonight' was written between 29th Sep - 8th Oct 1994 so it's inclusion means it was written after this period of time. - 'Need A Little Break' is unquestionably 'Bonehead's Bank Holiday'. It is very likely that 'Landslide' is an early title for 'Champagne Supernova'. It is tempting to suggest that 'Young' is future b-side 'Stay Young' but Noel has elsewhere hinted it was written post (WTS)MG?, so who knows? - It has been said that Noel met Meg Matthews on the 10th/11th Nov 1994. If the story about Noel only having the music and melody to 'Champagne Supernova' but no words until the day both him and Meg were watching a documentary on champagne making whilst listening to the Pixies' 'Bossanova' is true then perhaps this list was written after that date. That said it feels like 'Champagne Supernova' would be the obvious title to name the song so perhaps only that phrase came from that story. - Despite being recorded at the same time as 'Talk Tonight' both '(It's Good) To Be Free' and 'Half the World Away' were excluded from this list. Was this because they were earmarked as B-Sides and not under consideration for the next Oasis album? 'All Around The World', 'Stand By Me', 'Don't Go Away', 'Feeling Like I Think...', 'Starchild', 'Datura Dream Rebound', 'Being A Blue', 'Lock All The Doors', 'Raspberry Beret' and 'Live 4 Happy Mondays' (AKA 'The Mirror & the Razorblade') all appear to have fallen out of favor. 'Headshrinker' is still nowhere to be seen. - If this is a list of songs being considered by Noel for the band's second album does 'Whatever's' inclusion mean the song wasn't yet considered to be slated as simply a stand alone single?
'A Tracklist & A Single' - Page D - This tracklist is the least old of all the lists of songs and tracklist written. 'Talk Tonight' was written between 29th Sep - 8th Oct 1994 so it's inclusion means it was written after this period of time. 'Champagne Supernova' is definitively named for the first time and '(What's the Story) Morning Glory?' has finally made an appearance in it's completed form. - 'Hey Now!' (AKA 'Feel No Shame') is notably absent despite featuring in earlier tracklists and making the final cut for the album. - The list below is almost certainly the tracklist to a future single with 'Some Might Say' being the a-side and the other 3 tracks being the b-sides. 'Sports Car' is likely another early title for 'Bonehead's Bank Holiday'. 'Freedom' is unlikely to be '(It's Good) To Be Free'. It has been said that Liam has referred to '(It's Good) To Be Free' as 'Live By the Sea' before it's release and there is a page in Noel's notebook containing both 'Freedom' and 'Live By the Sea' meaning they cannot be the same song. - 'Whatever' does not receive a track number but has still been tagged onto the end of the tracklist. Is this because Noel is considering it as a bonus track or something similar?

'(What's the Story) Morning Glory?' has finally made an appearance in it's completed form. If the stories are to be believed that the phrase came to Noel's attention after meeting (and being involved with) Melissa Lim during their first tour of the US, that would add further evidence to your opinion that this list is from after October, 1994: (source: www.radiox.co.uk/artists/oasis/news/woman-inspired-oasis-talk-tonight-reportedly-found/)Not sure how long it takes for someone's catch phrase to stick in your head, but I'm guessing that Noel wouldn't have had the title until some time after the Whiskey A Go Go fiasco. As always, keep up the great work!

Good stuff! I was sorting through some old Mojo magazines the other day and came across an interview with Noel where he claims Wonderwall and Cast No Shadow were written on the same day in the week following the big bust up with Liam at Rockfield whilst recording Morning Glory.
It's in Mojo 45, August 1997.
I'll add a photo of the interview if some can explain how I do that i.e. how do I add an image from my computer (rather than the internet)?!

Interesting to see he thought enough of My Sister Lover to include it on the second album. It's the weakest 90's Oasis song imo.
