I think the only obvious critique of the compilation is the tracklist. I know there was a fan poll (the results of which I believe were kept a secret) but Noel had final say over what and wasn't included. Interesting to see that the compilation was originally billed as 'b-sides and rare songs' meaning bonus tracks 'Sad Song', 'Bonehead's Bank Holiday' and non-album single 'Whatever' were available to vote for as well as all the b-sides. For me 'The Swamp Song', 'I am the Walrus' and 'Stay Young' are the most replaceable songs on the album (though I appreciate the latter isn't a popular opinion). As to what I'd rather hear... 'Whatever' (if we're going by the original concept), 'Cloudburst', 'D'Yer Wanna Be A Spaceman?', 'Step Out'... All the 'Definitely Maybe' and '(WTS)MG?' extras are worthy of a compilation really. That first Pitchfork review is an embarrassment. Pitiful. The new one is infinitely better. 8.0 is a little bit tight though. |

For me the only must have song that is missing from this compilation is “Round Are Way”. Shocked Noel didn’t put it on after how often they played it in 1996. I’ve always loved “Swamp Song” and “I Am The Warlus” is such a beast of a live cut. I’d never get rid of that either. In terms of “Whatever”, it really should have been on Stop The Clocks but that is a debate as old as time. |

Didn't Stay Young win that fan poll? I seem to remember reading that was why it was included. Step Out and Whatever probably were not included due to the rights being split for those. |

Inclusion of Swamp Song is bizarre, I struggle to think why Noel included it? Is it supposed to work as some kind of intermission track? |

Now as much as I love Swamp Song ,it's a great instrumental and b.side but it should've stayed on the Wonderwall single and never have made The Masterplan album when there's so many other great b.sides from the singles from the first three albums.

NUMBER ONE IN THE MIDWEEK UPDATE This will be a tough one...99% Taylor will be #1 on friday Unfortunately im also not expecting it to hold on to #1 . 95% or more of whats put TM top in midweek are physical pre-orders, and it sounds like its not drastically far ahead of the competition. The rest of the week depends almost entirely on streaming, and it likely won’t keep up. Id guess Top 3, but not a #1. Although I said that about MTV Unplugged at Hull, so who knows…. |

I think the Swamp Song was curiosity with people wondering “what’s the full version of that song between tunes on morning glory like?”. Remember this was the days before easy music downloads, so it was new to a lot of people. I know I was excited to hear it.
