My vote is that’s the best interview he’s ever done, and I’ve been watching him since 1994!

Never thought I'd ever hear Noel play the Cigarettes & Alcohol riff again. Didn't know how much of a grin it would put on my face to see him do it.

That was lovely. The idea of Noel looking up amp videos on YouTube and coming across that Hiwatt is so totally different than the way he normally presents himself and it's great to think he's an enthusiastic musician underneath it all.

¿What’s the circular thing on Noël’s jacket’s left sleeve? Thanks. He stole the jacket and forgot to remove that anti-theft thing. bastard

Is there a discussion anywhere about this doc? could you tell me the length of it? 2 out of 4 parts released so far, each just over 20 mins long. All shot by Anais on her phone. First one shows him discussing the string arrangements, second one has Johnny Marr. There’s also footage of him decorating the studio. 19 mins into the first one is a snippet of a new unheard acoustic track, sounds very much like a break up song likely to be on the next acoustic album.

Was kinda sad to see him struggle to attempt to play the DLBIA solo, and also the Slide Away intro (the rhythm picking, not the lead) Re Slide Away - I wonder how long it's been since he played the album rhythm part like that? He didn't play it when Oasis did it in 2008/9, or in the Stop the Clocks shows. I think it might have been since 2001. The DLBIA thing was just silly I thought, he played it just fine every night on tour in 2019, 2022 and so far this year. Though I agree with Dan that whenever it's covered no one never seems to nail it. Remember Edge from U2 attempting it in 2017? That was... an eclectic rendition. Seeing him play the D->E bend from Morning Glory was a trip, he's never done that since the record as far as I know.

Genuinely laughed out loud when he said this, that's basically me whenever I go into a guitar shop First thing I do when I pick up a new guitar You guys are doing it wrong The obvious first chord on any guitar, new or old: is the E. not the minor. The E, the Stallone or Arnold of chords. Tells you if the guitar is worth doing something with it. Then its the D. final test is A. After that, maybe i'll play with you.

With the DLBIA solo I do wonder if he’s so married to how he plays the song that he can’t play the solo in isolation. Like, I’m not sure I’ve ever seen Noel do any improvisation. Now, the solo to DLBIA isn’t strictly improv. But his very strict, writerly way of playing speaks to his limited capacity as a guitarist. And I wonder if that extends to his solos. That is, he needs some familiarity, in this case playing into the solos rather than playing them in isolation, in order to play his parts. It’s that or he’s so self conscious of his playing that he either needs the comfort of a band or the actual privacy of a studio to play leads. Making him playing it alone, without a band, to a couple of guys on a YouTube channel more nerve wracking than performing it live.

Well it’s true for most guitarists that are not so far up their own ass. You need a setting, a mood, a sound to play a big solo. Without a rhythm guitar behind it or a rhythm sections solos are pretty daft and useless. So I understand Noel 100%. He became limited though as he said it in the radio x Interview that was I think saying he had lost the magic as a lead guitarist and that is why he’s giving it to Stacey or gem now.

I’d say Noel has never sat down and played a solo without a band. He never spends any time noodling away with lead parts. It’s chords and melodies and that comes across in his writing.

What’s crazy is that this « mystery » chord is very simple to find and play on piano Yet on guitar, it’s strange… and a bit hard to find

Good to see him laugh it off. 3:08

OK, you're probably right about that and I'm sure in one or two interviews he's said about writing songs on an acoustic guitar.
