I had to figure the chords out. Sorry for nerding out here but I like how he's doing more and more chord changes that aren't as standard in pop music or in his songs usually. Like less G Em and C. In this one he goes from a Bm to an E which is interesting and the D# maj9 and D# m9 in the verses (don't quote me on the chord names I had to look them up in a chord identifier so they might be wrong) makes for more interesting sounds. For those who want to know: Capo 1st fret Verse D#maj9: xx0222 D#m9: xx0211 Then in the "If you say so" part he goes G, Bm, G, E Then "But if love ain't enough..." it goes D, G, Bm, E, D, G, Bm, E, G At the end when he sings "To make it alright" repeatedly it's Bm, A, G I fucking love this song. I'd just call them Dmaj7 and Dm7, there's no 9 there Any alternative to playing those two chords up the neck somewhere? Like around the 5th fret? Like in the intro walk down in Masterplan, I feel like Noel might play those higher up

The Dmaj7 and Dm can played as x57675 and x57565, or 10x111110x (those are 11s) and 10x101010x if you wanted them even higher up

A lot of Noel’s songs recently have been growers. You need a few listens to really get into the song. This one had me first time. After half a dozen run throughs for me it’s a classic. Up there with the best of this type of song. Love it!

Haven't posted since Chasing Yesterday, but this is a pretty fantastic piece of work. Obviously deeply personal and an epic statement of love. This song is a wonderful example of why we're all such huge fans of this guy's work. Great job, Noel.

Like in the intro walk down in Masterplan, I feel like Noel might play those higher up Yeah that's the first thing I tried but it didn't sound right. To get these two chords I tried to figure what the high string sounded like and went from there and, since he loves that chord from Weller so much (the one in Let There Be Love) I thought it made sens that he'd play it like that. It's kind of Noel's version of Disarm (the Smashing Pumpkins song 😅) in a lot of ways.

I don't like this one at all and much prefer the other two singles. I won't be listening to this again.

That 'Allo 'Allo part is probably my favourite part of song.

It's my favorite of the three for sure. Infectious melody. Can't stop listening to it, this may be my favorite song since a couple of amazing tracks on chasing yesterday.

The transition from "let these be my last words" into the chorus...
There's something so pure about his great ballads, and this one fits right in

This is the first single in a long time I have loved immediately during the first listen. I definitely got bond vibes from it, could’ve easily been a bond song if the strings were slightly more aggressive

I can lend you a dream 'Til we meet again I'm dead to the world I don't know where I've been
And if you say so I'll bend over backwards for love
Gonna write you a song Won't take me long You can change all the words And still get them wrong
And if you say so I'll bend over backwards
But if love ain't enough To make it alright Leave me dead to the world
If love ain't enough To make it alright Leave me dead to the world
Cos I'm sleeping...
It's time to let go I'm bent over backwards I'm so tired Let these be my last words
If love ain't enough To make it alright Leave me dead to the world
If love ain't enough To make it alright Leave me dead to the world
If love ain't enough To make it alright Leave me dead to the world
If love ain't enough To make it alright Make it alright Make it alright
It's too bad Cos I'm sleeping...
I can lend you a dream 'Til we meet again I'm dead to the world I don't know where I've been

I enjoyed it a lot. Slowly getting the vibe of what the album will be like.

Though I’ve enjoyed all of his tunes over the years, this is the Noel that I love listening to the most, first one of his songs in a long while that I’ve listened over and over, absolutely beautiful song.

Stunning song, hit me first listen. The chorus melody was unexpected and took the song to a place I wouldn't have imagined in a good way Noel at his best is better than all the rest.

Best thing Noel has done in years IMHO. Bit spacey, bit Bacharach, bit Ennio Morricone…even a bit Scott Walker. So cinematic.

I can lend you a dream 'Til we meet again I'm dead to the world I don't know where I've been It’s a minor quibble, but it annoys me how he pronounces “been” as “bin” so it doesn’t rhyme with “dream”. The whole rhyming scheme is kinda weird / non-existent. X

Such a beautiful sad sad song. Up there with his best melancholic stuff.
He must have had a rough time though.

what makes it so special is the innocence and the naivety, the songs conveys. he believed that all it takes to make it alright was love. can you be more pure than this? alas, it was not enough.
