This isn't good, the BBC reports today that the latest butterfly count across the UK is at an all time low. The count has been running for 14 years by butterfly charity Butterfly Conservation who have declared a national butterfly emergency. This year's poor results are partly due to the wet weather but the charity are calling on the government to ban pesticides which harm butterflies and bees. Something needs to be done before it's too late but I don't expect this government to do anything any time soon.

And, the cat doesn't look too happy about it.

Saint Cloud thinking they can outdo Melbourne Cup. Three horses down in the last yesterday, JMB I'm starting to believe you. Edit: Whoever thought it OK to continue the race with a dead Loveatfirstsight on track, fuck you.

Today is world red panda day. Absolutely beautiful creatures but sadly there's only less than 10,000 left in the wild.

Why is there so much derision about disagreeing with a horse going to France? I see what Bazire is saying, and the yes men are not.

I finally started watching that series about big cats on Iplayer last night but I've only watched the first two episodes so far. It's heartbreaking that there's only around 7,000 cheetahs left in the wild now.

Today is world cassowary day. They may be Australia's most dangerous bird but they're still beautiful birds, it's that blue colour.

This isn't good, ship noise hampers orcas' hunting success because they hunt with their ears rather than their eyes.

Wow, an albatross known as Wisdom, who lives on the Midway Atoll in the North Pacific Ocean is now 73 years old making her the oldest wild bird. That's absolutely amazing.

I didn't realize that it was world racoon day on Tuesday and yesterday it was world habitat day. Sadly we all know that there's far too many habitats been destoryed due to selfish humans.

Some good news an orca baby has been born to the Southern Resident ocas. These orcas are already critically endangered and there's less than 100 left in the wild I believe so it's always good to hear about any new born. It's unknown if this new born is a male or female at the moment.
