My band lasted for about 6 months and we only ever did one proper gig. But the night before that I met Robert Smith and had a brief chat with him.
I told him about the situation and that I was so nervious about it, he asked lots of questions about my band and my role in it (singer/guitar/songwriting) and then gave me some advice, the one that resonated the most was: do it like there's no audience, imagine you're alone and have the time of your life. And so I did.

I was kissed by Weller, hugged by Marr and my pen was nearly stolen by Liam.
All 3 lovely gentlemen.

Once managed to shoplift an acoustic guitar from a local music shop, went in with my old one in a case to enquire about getting it fixed, then somehow while the owner wasn't looking managed to switch mine with a new expensive one from on display, then quickly made excuses said I would be back later and left sharpish. Icing on the cake was I went back with the empty case later the same day, managed to get the old guitar back in the case again without the owner noticing and then had it fixed as intended. To this day I have no idea how I managed to get away with it. Definitely a fun fact though, maybe*. *for legal reasons this is NOT a true story.

I saw the Jam in 1982 and was heavily into the Mod look/music, but my mum wouldn't let me buy a scooter in case I fell off and missed my exams.

The above story by settingson reminded me of this: When I was in driving school for my 125 ccm motorcycle license, I accidentally braked too hard while practising one of the basic driving tasks which resulted in me doing an unplanned 'frontflip' with the motorbike. Fortunately, I only broke something in my elbow. The weird part of the story is that I was actually doing pretty well at riding the motorbike at that time, had practised said basic driving tasks at least 70 times and was supposed to take the driving test a week earlier but the test was cancelled due to snow in April. Then after the elbow had healed up, the odyssey to getting my license continued for a few more weeks but in mid-July of that year, I finally got it. And because I am right-handed but broke something in my right elbow, I had to write my school exams with my left hand at the time which - thankfully - worked better than I had expected. I was lucky though that those were only regular exams in year 10 instead of my Abitur (German A-levels) exams at the end of year 12.

I can feel it.
