This Is The Place is one of my favourite songs from Noel and I do like some of the other songs from those EPs but not all of them.

Think this song is definately a grower, when I first heard "Holy Mountain" I was not very impressed, but it's become one of my favourite solo songs (especially sounds better live) It's nice to have a new song in any case, looking forward to the new album

We did get God Help Us All and Alone On The Rope (for the second time) but I agree there was a severe lack of proper b-sides last time around. I donβt count remixes as proper b-sides personally even though some of them are great to hear. One of my pet hates of modern releases are tracks are stuck out at the beginning of of an album cycle as bonus tracks on deluxe editions, very frustrating after growing up with 4 and 3 track singles. Iβm not letting you count Rope man :-P The 90s were peak for b-sides hey? Not just Oasis: Radiohead, SFAs, Blur, Manics, Nirvana, Beck, Smashing Pumpkinsβ¦ great times. I feel properly ripped off by Β£10+ singles now. Shakes fist at cloud. X Mansun too. Such a great time...driving a couple hours to find an import cd-single. The good old days!

At this point Noel is the musical equivalent of Blackburnβs Stuart Ripley.
Liam is both Sutton AND Shearer.

Pretty Boy is so good... so good that I forget it exists. Only because I am reading this forum, I remembered that Noel has new song.

For a song I don't really like I've listened to it a fair few times so there must be something about it.
The "she was a lot like me, she was a lot like you" is by far the best part in my opinion.
I gave it a 4/10 to start with, I'd raise that to a 5.5/10 now.

Basically. I love oasis first three records. And b sides. After that I loved the singles but not the remaining albums. Itβs no surprise I donβt like Noelβs solo stuff. Same songwriting fade but without the voice of Liam. Liamβs new songwriting partners brings something newβ¦with THE voice. Noel is more like the stones vs u2. He had his purple period. And itβs far in the past. To top it off I donβt like his arrogance towards the customers of his wares.

When Pretty Boy came out, I loved the song right away. But now it's been over a week since I've listened to it and I don't feel like listening to it anymore. I still think the Johnny Marr riff and the whole instrumental in general is great. But the lyrics, the way Noel sings, the video... There are too many things that Noel could have done 20 times better and I feel like if I listen to this song one more time, it will be one too many.

Woke up in the middle of the night with the song in my head. No idea what I have been dreaming. But it's a good sign, it means it is slowly creeping into my head. π

It's a solid album track and I like it. A good six or seven out of ten for me. Certainly won't be skipping it, but it's not a lead single by any stretch of the imagination. It's got a good vibe to it and might fit well in the album. I feel it was just that, an album track thrown out to satiate our hunger for new material.
It is more or less what I expect from a self-produced song by Noel - a bit lightweight, a nagging feeling it's underdeveloped and would benefit from a fresh pair of ears guiding Noel to flesh it out, i.e. a world class producer. There's no kitchen sinks thrown ala David Holmes which is a massive shame because as somebody noted above, there's always little sonic flourishes here and there that I'm still finding out with Who Built The Moon. It's decent for sure and thankfully nowhere near the boring sludge of Chasing Yesterday but being mad and utterly epic in sound would suit Noel, a massive shame he isn't working with Holmes again.

It's a grower. Chasing Yesterday was also a grower for me as was most of his post-NGHFB releases. And that's a good thing.
I'm still iffy about the theme of the song, the video, the fact that Noel is very critical of today's society because, especially with the last lyric from the song "I want to change my star sign because it don't suit me", I'm afraid it's a jab at gender norms going out the window. Given his "old dude who doesn't understand the world anymore" attitude in the last years and him talking about "woke" culture and all that, I have a hard time enjoying the song because of it. I want to sing along because it's catchy but if that's what he's doing, I'm not interested.
I know it's a slippery subject but let's not start a full conversation on the whole gender/woke thing in this thread as it's not the place. I'm just saying what I think of the song.

Mate, he's not doing that I get you all don't like all of his views (me neither), and he sounds like the old man yells at clouds meme at times, but there's no hint in this tune that his attitude in it is negative It's not even like this is a whole political rant, just a little story with a meaning that could be factual but also be the representation of a broader feeling (e.g. not being comfortable with who/where you are, whatever's the context and reason)

Yeah, it's broader. Our issues with gender norms also have to do with women not wanting to be what other women and men think they should be and men not wanting to be what other men and woman want them to be. We all have the same problem and want the same thing.

But of course, it's just an interpretation, I haven't decided that's what he was on about of course. It's just that right now, I can't enjoy it thouroughly because it makes me a bit uneasy in the context of the last years. I hope I'm wrong though. To me it's like Run For Your Life by the Beatles. I can't listen to that song even if musically it's completely Beatles-esque. The comparison is a leap but you know what I mean. Yeah, it's broader. Our issues with gender norms also have to do with women not wanting to be what other women and men think they should be and men not wanting to be what other men and woman want them to be. We all have the same problem and want the same thing. What do you mean? Like in the context of the song?

Well, I'm just telling you to think about it differently than just men wanting to use women's bathrooms, compete in women's sports, and wear dresses.
Being anti-mask and anti-climate action doesn't make you anti the rest of it either. He's not a bad/ignorant person for having those views, you just don't see it the same way because you're not in his shoes.
That is all I will say on any of it.
