What a waste of reading. The man can't sing properly his solo songs until a few live performances, it happened everytime before. The song is a bit hard to sing, but he'll take it by the hand. Each first time seems a bit shy. That's all.
Great hat, glad to see something new in his outfit. Will help not to confuse 5 years of performances with the same blue parka.
Good for him, it will grow.

I think how Liam is summing it up puts us pretty much on the same page; that it wasn’t bad, but wasn’t a knockout either.
Like a lot of us, I knew the chorus would be a stretch (heck, he’d even admitted on twitter that he wouldn’t reach the high notes). What also didn’t help is that the verses are so fast it’s hard to hear the lyrics live, although he sounded pretty good on those.
So, yeah i was marginally positive on it. Overall he’s done better, but he’s also done much worse.

Let the backing singers sing the majority of the chorus
Or drop it down half a key
There’s no shame in In it
We all know liam is going to get bashed for his difficult third album Oh well goodbye to all the casual fans I say
We’ll be the only ones left again and it’s back to basics for the 4th solo album

Fook them! 3rd chorus sounded spot on to my ears.

I enjoyed it but what do I know, I'm not a 50 year old wannabe roadie with voice coaching experience and sound mixing expertise like everyone here. Well I didn’t mind It myself I just think it’s poor when Someone who sings for a living essentially struggles half the time to sing their songs and it becomes a massive talking point. It should be the absolute minimum requirement that a singer can actually hit the notes of their songs and not be really flat, So much so that it shouldn’t really even be a conversation. His vocals on his albums are audibly pitch corrected, which is fine, that’s industry standard today to a point, but they must know in the studio that some of the songs are just a real stretch for him at this point, so why not transpose them to a key where he can sing more comfortably. It’s something I’ll never really understand. I rest my case.

The opening with helicopter is so epic, he should try this in Knebworth defo. While first watching, I was just 'wow, return of the king'
Band gave it all, no shit. Bonehead is legend that improves this piece of band to such a solid live band, no doubt.
Liam's singing... Firstly - I think it was the shoutest vocals he ever did while doing solo. that's impressive, I like that, I like when he shouts. Maybe it's just sound quality, production or how you call it? Anyway, very good sound.
But
I noticed... even when I can defo say 2021 gigs were amazing, DBTRT stream was okay - he started singing nasally again. You can't hear that on EE studio version but live is obviously very nasal. Smth 2011-ish, y'now. Except that Brit Awards was a really good performance. But he should stop singing through his nose - cause he still sounds very high and very good. But please Liam... stop singing through your nose, it's very Olympics' Wonderwall...

Absolutely Epic. Everything about it. Listening to it on headphones, I loved it right from the pre-recorded helicopter bit. So many people on here are so fucking cynical. I was blown away by that performance by LG You can’t be serious? I’m as big a Liam fan as anyone on here. But lets be honest, it did not sound good at all. Yes it’s a matter of opinion, but for absolutely every non die hard fan this is unlistenable.. They’ve got to change the key Yes he is serious.. I loved it too.

"A Song that exactly no one wants to hear" I can only speak for myself, but Liam and the Song was the only reason for me to watch that crap. We live in Strange Times: Everybody is so tolerant and diversitive, but almost the whole modern music is artificially, superficial and sexist. No Wonder the don't understand the people who Like some realness in music.

That Guardian review is par for the course. Hilariously the writer waxes lyrical about Dave’s performance which I thought was some kind of elaborate pastiche.

If you only write songs that are comfortably in Liam's range you'll get DGSS pt2. Huh? Many songs on DGSS were hard to sing for Liam

LOL at the Guardian - almost disappointed they haven't labeled his performance as "toxic masculinity and outdated"

Just watched it again, wasn't as bad as I remembered. The actual tone of his voice is better there than the studio version, it's just a shame he wasn't hitting the notes.

Not sure about the rest, but I agree with you about the sexist part. It's still so much harder to find women or female-led groups in the genres I'm mostly interested in. There are plenty of female-led rock groups, but on average they don't get nearly as much mainstream promotion as the men. Maybe it's better across the pond, but here in the US, the rock and country stations are absolutely dire when it comes to playing female artists. I'm not sure the local country station has even heard of a female artist that isn't Carrie Underwood. And isn't as if there aren't plenty of successful, established artists to choose from! Kacey Musgraves won a Grammy for freaking Best Record of the Year!
On the plus side, while I was watching the Brits I noted down the group London Grammar, whom I wasn't familiar with, and I like them a lot. I haven't found a good new-agey group in a while, and I love her voice.

He really nails the verses. His tone is great. The chorus is just a bit to high, bringing it down half a step would have done him wonders.

Remember The River first, second, third time live. Pure shit. But since then, he's got more comfortable with it. Two fingers at front, frankly. That simple.
