I'd be surprised if any song demoed we have heard so far ends up on the album. It's not really a very Noel thing to just give away something so early on, it may be just a feeler to see the reaction of going away from the Holmes experiment (which was dogturd imo). The Back The Way We Came singles would've been enough to taste the water I don't feel like We're Gonna Get There In the End will be on it, it seems to me its train has passed, but the fact he presented this new one by talking about the album he's working on to me looks like a strong indication it will be part of it It's unusual for him, but then since WBTM he's done a lot of stuff that would've seemed unlikely just 5 years ago And that "part 1" in the title still leaves enough mystery around it and the window open for any kind of change I get the feeling both will be on the album. Last years gift song is almost 85% done. If he adds some horns or brass it’ll be a nice Kinks track. I’m hoping for a solid 12 track album knowing I’ll prob settle for 10. |

What an amazing tune. I really just can’t help it though: it reminds me of one of those HC demos where Noel sang the demo and Liam sang the album version. A song like this would be tremendously lifted by a Liam vocal.

He specifically said he picked those two older songs to be on the best of collection because they wouldn’t feature on the forthcoming LP of more recently written material. |

Back The Way We Came explicitly closed the chapter on Noel's first 10 years as a solo artist. It was his best of that era. They won't be on the new album.
