It’s on Spotify. Soulful (for Noel), upbeat tune. Nothing like the Style Council (who I absolutely love). I’d give it 6/10

Just had my first listen. It didn't strike anything in me. Honestly if it wasn't Noel I wouldn't bother listening to it again. But that happened in the past with some of his songs and I ended up loving them (The Girl with X-Ray Eyes, A Dream is all I need to get by and others).
The only thing I'm going to leave here is something I noticed at the very beginning that unfortunately I can't unhear. So now you'll all have the same curse because I'm evil.

Think Noel is talking vibe ... Style Council had a retro, early 60s-and-jazz-inspired thing going, lots of horns and strings, lots of falsetto, lots of summery melancholy. Noel leans more Bacharach than Motown, where Weller was always more Motown than Bacharach. |

I also don’t understand why people still make music videos. They still matter for new bands -- any promotion is good promotion when you're building a fanbase. And they still generate listens -- there were just a whole lot of people worldwide waiting for the premiere of "Flying On The Ground" and judging by the live comments, many of them had not heard the song yet. In the film world, they are still a major training ground for young directors, a place to hone talent. And an amazing or controversial video can still make a song--or turn a genre song into a crossover hit. But very rarely does a video break a song for a legacy artist, though, so it's easy not to care too much. |

I liked the Ballad of the Mighty I one and I have definitely seen in the heat of the moment but I have no recollection of the others. Have all the singles (black and coloured) but I can’t be sure I’ve seen all the videos 👀 |
