The deluxe collector’s edition arrived pretty speedily from Blackwell’s. Haven’t jumped into it yet, but have to say the design, with the multi-colored open spine binding and dual covers, is gorgeous and fun. So if you’re into that sort of thing it adds a little something extra.

The Supersonic book has entered the Bestsellers Chart in the UK, currently at #9 on the Sunday Times General Hardback chart (was #18 last week)

I'm about a quarter of the way through (just been signed by Creation). Enjoying it so far. Nothing groundbreaking but think this is the closest we'll get to an autobiography.

Think the book is much more interesting that it has been given credit for here! I'm in the section on touring America here and finding it somewhat illuminating.
My favorite story in this section, maybe because I can envision it so clearly, is that when they were in LA, Liam and Noel were forced into meeting with some marketing muckety-mucks and the guy heading the meeting gets up and introduces them as "Leyland and Norton."

I liked the bit where Noel said Creation records hadn’t even heard Slide Away when they signed them, then literally a couple of pages later claims to have written it when Johnny Marr gave him the second guitar 🤔
Don’t let the truth get in the way of a good story Noel.

Maybe it's late but I fail to see how those two clash. By all accounts, it seems like he hadn't written it when Creation had signed the band (otherwise they would have played it) and there's never a specific timeline as to when Slide Away was written - just that it was done on that guitar Johnny Marr gave him.

Noel's more than happy to twist the truth but those two events don't clash. 'Slide Away' was written Dec 93/Jan 94.

Noel's more than happy to twist the truth but those two events don't clash. 'Slide Away' was written Dec 93/Jan 94. First performance was Hultsfred Festival 1994 wasn’t it? September or august I think? There is an early acoustic of it (Noel only) that I remember was said to be from Signal Radio Cheshire, dec 1993 (along with DYWBAS?) but I’m pretty sure we found that to be dec 94 instead. I used to know all these things, all these dates by heart. Now look at me, I’m forgetting things left right and Centre. Late 30s, I guess.

Indeed someone (supposedly of good reputation) claimed it was performed acoustically during a radio performance in Dec 1993. I've always had some doubts myself but it is possible. If it did come to light this performance was actually from Dec 94 I'd certainly like to know. Personally I believe it was written in early Jan 94. It was certainly the last song written for Definitely Maybe.

Seeing as the version on Definitely Maybe of Slide Away is from the Monnow Valley sessions, which took place starting in early January and lasting most of the month it would have to have been written either during or before that session. Noel has never claimed to have written it while in the studio (like he has for Supersonic) -- at least not that I am aware of -- so I think that would most likely put the date of when it was written before those sessions began. The best information that I have is that the session started on 7 January and lasted until about 26 January before the band went back to London.

I think that helps to basically confirm that it was written in January 1994. Great find as always The Crimson Rambler.

In the meanwhile, I'd definitely say go for it if you're an Oasis or book collector. I love my copy. The design is really beautiful but also cool so perfect for the contents.

Great , Thanks, yeah I love stuff like that too especially books that are put together well, I really like the Slane Castle pictures at the front and back as well so I think this is a definite for me.

I'm considering whether buying a regular edition (29 Euro) or collector edition (58 Euro). You can't choose which front cover (Liam or Noel) you want though. Any advice is appreciated.

I ordered the collector last night, yeah I don’t think can choose which cover you receive, just random which one is sent , hoping to maybe get the Liam one but I’m not bothered really.

Don't get the collector's edition, it's not worth the extra money - I did it and it was disappointing tbh, the front cover is Liam and the back cover is Noel (I don't know why they made it sound like you could choose the front cover) and it has no spine cover either so it looks a bit strange I have to say. There's a pull-out bit at the back with Knebworth pics but overall there's nothing about it that justifies paying so much extra money

Thanks for the pics, does look a really nice design, is there a chance the spine could be damaged through wear do you think overtime? cause it doesn’t look like there is a spine to it but I really like the different look to it and it does look quite collectible.

Thanks for the pics, does look a really nice design, is there a chance the spine could be damaged through wear do you think overtime? cause it doesn’t look like there is a spine to it but I really like the different look to it and it does look quite collectible. There is actually a stitched spine, just not covered. One really nice part of an open spine (especially for photo books) is that it opens way more easily and lies much more flat because you don't have to "crack the spine." You will damage this one less than a regular spine when opening it fully since you don't have to break apart the glue. And, so far, it seems to hold up nicely under ordinary reading conditions. That said, I'd be a bit careful with it, as with anything, if you want to keep it in pristine shape. Over a long period of time the pages might get a bit more exposed to dust and that sort of thing and the threads themselves I guess could disintegrate but probably not any time soon.
