I think that really young people don't care about the charts and just like whatever is popular at the time they like and when they fade, people move on to someone else. I don't care about the charts unless it's Noel or Liam, I'm just not interested.

#61 this week
#2 in the Vinlys chart, where Shockwave (and Blue Moon Rising) re-entered the top 40
This fanbase's obsession with vinyls is as strong as it's ever been

Although it's a shame that the song is out of the top 40 now at least it's not out of the top 100 and I guess now with Christmas over (and I know this isn't really a Christmas song) these sort of songs will probably slip down the charts now anyway. But it's great that the song is still doing well in the vinyl charts and it's even better that Shockwave and Blue Moon Rising have also re-entered that chart π

Still think the amount of copies it genuinely sold should have shown for a lot more in the actual chart. It's creating a pretty closed shop in terms of old school acts having any chance of breaking the top 20.

It's creating a pretty closed shop in terms of old school acts having any chance of breaking the top 20. Unfortunately that is not how music is consumed for the masses. It wouldnβt be properly assessing what is being listened to or how many times over. Iβm not sure the best way to measure and reward chart placement but does it even matter? I keep finding that people a decade younger or more donβt care at all where their fav bands or artists chart. Itβs just not part of that culture for them.

I think that even in the 90s that's when things started to change in the charts even though we didn't have streaming back then but I don't think that you had artists selling as many records as what they would say in the 70s or 80s. I'm not saying artists didn't sell a lot of records in the 90s because they did given the amount of records Oasis shifted in the 90s. But I think things started to drop off a bit even back then.

I agree it needs to reflect streams, there should just be a better way of doing it to reflect what's being bought that week. This christmas chart is a perfect example of that. Most listened to that week isn't what the charts ever was. It was what people are buying new. Liam's position wouldn't have mattered if he didnt make such a big thing for getting no.1 either.

The thing is look at how many mid week updates they have these days since everything was changed to a Friday. I don't know if it's just me but I'm sure that they never used to have these mid week updates before. If I remember rightly the charts in the old days were changed on a Tuesday and then just repeated on a Sunday evening before they changed to changing them on a Sunday. Now though it's all over the place.

That probably means that the song will sadly be out of the top 100 then by Friday.

Yeah, we already knew but it's great for Liam and shows that the Gallagher's can still shift records after all these years π.

Anyone in the United States gotten their vinyl from the official store yet? I got an email that it shipped Dec. 15 and it still hasn't arrived. I recognize that the world has gone to hell and the holidays impacted shipping, but starting to worry.
