Nobody releases compilations these days in this age of streaming. Well thats an absolute load of rubbish. Point still stands though, an Oasis compilation post-90s is pointless. And every major act worth their weight in salt ain't doing it.

The Killers topped the chart a few weeks ago with a best of album. Best of compilations are strong. Eminem released a 2010s/2020s best of only recently that has been shifting massive numbers. An Oasis 00’s would do extremely well.

There are loads of major artists doing compilations and greatest hits releases. And an Oasis 2000’s compilation, especially with unreleased songs, would generate massive excitement across the fan base IMO.

Compilation albums are making a comeback simply because it allows greedy record companies to pump out more overpriced vinyl.

Listen it all the time.

I'd be up for it.
Choose well, add some unheard material, and it could brighten up the general perception of their career. It could at least prove that strong moments and songs existed from Oasis past 1996, contrary to some opinions.
My effort:
THE SHOCK OF THE LIGHTNING: THE BEST OF '00-'09: 1. Fuckin' in the Bushes 2. Go Let it Out 3. Stop Crying Your Heart Out 4. Little by Little 5. Gas Panic! 6. [NEW SHIT] 7. I'm Outta Time 8. Part of the Queue 9. Where Did it All Go Wrong? 10. [FIND SOMETHING IN THE SOCK DRAWER] 11. The Turning 12. Let's All Make Believe 13. Let there be Love
1. The Hindu Times 2. Songbird 3. The Importance of Being Idle 4. The Shock of the Lightning 5. Lyla 6. [NEW SHIT] 7. Falling Down 8. Who Feels Love? 9. [LOOK UNDER THE SINK TOO] 10. Bag it Up 11. The Boy With the Blues 12. Idler's Dream 13. Roll it Over

How can you make best of and put new shit there? Noel did it in 2021, don't forget! Biograph by Bob Dylan was one of the first compilation albums to include new material if I'm not mistaken. That's the first compilation album I'm aware of to do it at least, Biograph came out in 1985 so they've been doing it for nearly 40 years at least!

The biggest selling point of Nirvana’s best of was the unreleased song “You Know You’re Right”, no?

A tracklist challenge? Yes please!
Ok what I've done is pick 4 songs from each of the albums to give a nice even spread of material from that period of time. It's not necessarily my favourite 16 songs but these are the ones I perceive to make up the most realistic 'best of'. The compilation totals 71 minutes (the same length as 'Be Here Now') which means it can fit onto 1 CD and 4 sides of vinyl. There's 9 Liam sung songs, 5 Noel, 1 featuring co-lead vocals and 1 instrumental. I've tried to spread these out as equally as possible whilst maintaining a strong flow. Just to make it extra difficult for myself I've self imposed a rule of 1 song from each album per side of vinyl which I think it's a neat little concept cuz it keeps the balance between the four album incredibly equal. Additional rules include no songs from the same album next to one another and no less than 2 fully Liam sung songs per side.
Side 1 1. Fuckin' In The Bushes 2. The Hindu Times 3. Lyla 4. The Turning
Side 2 5. Little By Little 6. Go Let It Out 7. The Shock of the Lightning 8. The Importance of Being Idle
Side 3 9. I'm Outta Time 10. Where Did It All Go Wrong? 11. Stop Crying Your Heart Out 12. Part of the Queue
Side 4 13. Songbird 14. Falling Down 15. Gas Panic! 16. Let There Be Love
The biggest discrepancy in terms of flow comes from ‘The Hindu Times’ due to it fading into the subsequent track on Heathen Chemistry. Unfortunately with the rules I’ve set up there’s isn’t any super satisfying transition possible into any subsequent song so it’d probably have to be edited to keep the fade out within the song.
In terms of bonus material I'd compile it separately. That way we'll get a hell of a lot more.

The single version of Hindu Times has a clean fade out if you can find it in whatever format you'd make the playlist in.

I put it together on Spotify the other day and checked the single and Time Flies and they're all identical annoyingly. Good to know the single proper fades out fully. I guess if I can get a rip I can manually add it from my 'local files'. Cheers.

You can barely make a decent quality EP out of everything released post 2000 never mind a best of album ffs Pretty laughable take this - but opinions are like arseholes and all that... There's probably 20 songs that could be picked from in that 9-year stint that would make a best of that's up there with a lot of bands. Not the greats, not the Oasis of the 90s probably, but definitely very good.
