I got the Jansen shot a bit ago. Got it mid-day and by that evening, I had a high fever, tunnel vision, could barely walk and my body was uncontrollably shaking. I did not sleep well, had fever dreams, but by morning I was fine. And thankfully, don't need a follow up! Worth it for somebody with a needle phobia.

My wonderful state of Florida having another outbreak. Have I mentioned I hate living here? I went to Florida in 2018. Makes for a nice vacation, but yeah, i probably wouldn't live there, or at least not in Miami. But i really enjoyed the Keys, the west coast is beautiful too. I guess it's different to live there, but for a few days, it can be like heaven. Not in big cities though. Just for the beaches and nature.

I read on the BBC World news pages earlier that China's latest out break is due to the Indian strain. No surprise there I guess.

I read on the BBC news pages that Covid jabs for 16 and 17 year olds are to start within weeks. Let's hope that they take it up then.

In my (U.S.) city, the young people definitely did it - out of 34,000 or so 12 - 17 year olds in the city, 32,000 have been vaccinated (97%) The problem age group is the 25-34 -- only 72% have been vaccinated and they are the largest age group. But in general, vaccination rates are very high for my city

Mega vaccination centres will be closed soon over here as 85% of the nation already got their first jab.

I read on the BBC news pages earlier that the fifth of England Covid hospital cases are aged between 18-34 years old which isn't good. I can't understand why some (not all) won't get their vaccine.

Seems we are way behind you, 60 % got the first jab and 53 % also the second one, as of yesterday. But the vaccination center I went to today, the biggest one here, was quite busy and it has only been a few weeks since the vaccination was opened to everyone, so let's see. They stressed me out, because now we get to chose the vaccination. How the frak should I know?! I picked the same one my parents got, with hardly any side effects, so genetically I should be fine.

I see that most of the lockdown restrictions are to be lifted in Scotland and Wales, Scotland from tomorrow. No doubt cases will rise again though.

I read on the BBC news pages that teenage jab roll out is moving cautiously down the age groups as it decides how many under 18s should get the vaccine because of a delicate balance between benefits and risks.

I think that risk-benefit calculation is changing here in the states. 350 unvaccinated kids under 17 hospitalized this week in Florida. Really feel for those families but it would be even sadder if they hadn't had the option to get vaccinated.

But I agree it would be even sadder if they hadn't had the option to get vaccinated. We know that all vaccines and medicines can have side affects but in younger people they seem to be more at risk for serious side effects with Covid vaccines from what I've read.

I spoke to a Red Cross employee when I got my second jab, and he told me a lot of teenagers are coming in to get vaccinated and also a lot of people who come in without an appointment. They vaccinate around 1000 people a day (I live in a city with 72.000 inhabitants plus inhabitants from towns around us have to get here to get vaccinated) so that's a good sign.

Glad to see the numbers for Spain, I was worried as we're getting lots of tourists during summer but we're doing ok.

The only person who I kiss and hug is my better half since last year March and I'm fine with that.

A face mask on public transports will be gone from 20 September and if things go well afterwards, all those restricrions (not that we still have it at this point) will be taken down on 1st November.

I don't use public transport unless I really have to. I still wear a face mask when ever I'm out and about and will continue to do so.

It finally happened here. In Florida, the hospitals are currently overwhelmed. In major counties including my own, people suffering medical emergencies are actually being turned away because there are no rooms or staff available. People having strokes and heart attacks are being turned away because there's just nothing that can be done. Insanity, but not surprising.
Oh, and the kids just returned to school and they haven't closed them back down yet and there seems no plan to do so. They aren't even enforcing the children to wear masks. Our governor even attempted to punish school staff for daring to defy his anti-mask enforcement measure, before backing down.
