I read on the BBC news pages that half of adults in the UK have now received their first dose of a Covid vaccine, with 26,853,407 people have had the vaccine since 8th December. That is really good news but this Government needs to stop taking credit for it as it's the NHS who have got this far with the vaccines and not the Government.

Apparently we are going into a new lockdown in Germany until sometime in April. I donβt even know what thatβs supposed to mean anymore. Our government mishandled this pandemic pretty good over the last months. Ridiculous

I read on the BBC news pages that yesterday was another record breaking day for the vaccine Roll out with 844, 285 combined first and second doses were given on Saturday up from 711,157 on Friday. That is really good news. I also read that the head of Public Health England has said that we could be wearing face masks and social distancing for several years until we return to normality. This doesn't surprise me to be honest.

I was finally able to get the first dose of Moderna covid vaccine' but I had an allergic reaction (swelling of lips, mouth, tongue), and now can't get the second shot. Has anybody else here had reactions to the vaccine?

Has anybody else here had reactions to the vaccine? I'm sorry to hear that and I hope that you're feeling better now. The Moderma vaccine isn't available here in the UK so I can't answer your question I'm afraid.

Boris Johnson says that the UK will feel the third wave of Covid which is happening in Europe at the moment. Well, if and when it does happen then I hope that it won't get as bad as what we've had so far. But this virus is so unpredictable.

Wall as much as I hate Boris Johnson and his cronies for once they're doing the right thing because of the third wave of the virus in Europe anyway. And, now Germany have announced an extension in their lockdown. But as for non European countries well it's probably too early to say if holidays abroad are safe or not.

It's the first anniversary of the UK lockdown today but to be honest I didn't even realise that it was until I read it on the BBC news pages.

Curfew will be 22.00 from next Wednesday on. Because, as we all know, the virus is afraid of the dark..
It's nice to be able to visit people slightly longer I guess, but I wish they would let go of that damn curfew already.

I think the whole point in curfews is that groups of people are more likely to get together late at night, get hammered and when people get hammered, social distancing goes right out the window.
Just like lots of things during a pandemic, there is going to be lots of rules that look like contradictions.

Just like lots of things during a pandemic, there is going to be lots of rules that look like contradictions. well, they are.Of course they are. As I said in another thread on here a few months back the need for trade-offs in risk when you prioritise things like education and the economy during a pandemic are always going to lead to contradictions in what you can and cannot do. Thatβs all Iβve heard for the last 12 months: βHow come he can do that but a cannae do thisβ. No idea where you are but if places serving food are still open then.... thatβs another argument altogether.

Oh over here if you have some kind of statement on paper as for why you're outside you can be outside later than 9. The reason should be legit of course, such as work. Oh and people with dogs.

I'm counting down the weeks to when I can have my second jab. The worry is though there's going to be a shortage of vaccines in April. However I did read on the BBC news pages that they're going to be concentrating on getting people vaccinated with the second dose. So we'll have to wait and see.

I don't have much sympathy for morons dumb enough to book an overseas holiday while a global pandemic is raging around the world and outbreaks are popping up everywhere. Now I suppose they'll be complaining that they can't get a refund from their travel insurance because it specifically didn't cover cancellations caused by the pandemic and they didn't bother to check the small print on that.

Here in the Netherlands the vaccination strategy changes every week. It's very unclear and they keep making big statements like "everyone could at least have been vaccinated once by June". Hell, health care workers were one of the first groups to be vaccinated. My sister works at a covid department and she still hasn't been vaccinated.

Here in the UK it's still 12 weeks in between vaccine one and vaccine two . It's a long wait but it's what the government ordered so that's that I guess.

I fully agree with you both there and I think these people who moan about it are absolutely stupid. I mean who in their right mind would want to book a holiday abroad with all this going on. It's just selfish.

I see that Boris Johnson says that the road map out of lockdown is still on course despite a third wave of Covid in Europe. Well I think we'll just have to wait and see what happens as I don't believe anything he says and he can't be trusted.

So here in the UK lockdown restrictions are starting to be lifted with 6 people allowed to meet outside from today and also outside sport centres have reopened. The next restrictions to be lifted are in April.

1 death and 125 new cases in Wales yesterday.
It will surely be going up again soon though as some of the scenes I saw the weekend were shocking
