I also share the theory that it was held just in case oasis got back together. New version is slower, feels like it drags, and the strummy guitars make it quite Dadrock. Preferred it when it was a bit more driven. Choir definitely sounds reused from demo/DOYS version. If it IS mixed by Sardy, could this be a holdover from NGHFB? Sounds in that style. I don't think it's slower - running time is almost the same as the demo, seems like the same BPM. Demo is 96bpm and the new version is 93

Demo is 96bpm and the new version is 93 At the very least..though for me it's not as much of a stomper...on many more listens it is the Oasis throwback promised I guess. I would have seriously thrown al my toys out the pram if it was in the vien of most of his recent effort...which for me is a tad all over the shop as a continual listen, but has a few...listen on their own..tracks weve come to appreciate while Noel decides on direction or style pre chasing yesterday's style (For me his best album bar none)

I prefer the demo as well, but compared to the likes of BSD/TITP/BMR it's a fucking tune It is indeed far better than those aforementioned. Can you imagine Liam singing it..growling...we can be dream ha ha... C'mon... "size of a cowwwwwa" Would have been brilliant!

Does anybody have that video where he mentioned it being the last great Oasis song?

A few more listens and although I'm still a little irked he dropped the tempo, it's still a great song.
Can't remember who suggested it on here, but I cant help but think how much better the "cow" line would be, if instead it were :"Your problems are the talk of the town."
If the only gripes I have are 3bpm difference in tempo, and the use of the word cow, it's still a massive improvement in what we've heard lately.

Liam should do us all (and Noel) a favour and do a cover and stick it on YouTube. Just to lighten the mood a bit.

I love this collection of EPs. It’s got some great songs on it, one for every mood. And there’s also Evil Flower.

Is it just me that feels there has been some weird effects put on his voice?

This is cool but there is no way this is a fresh recording. The Sardy credit and the reused elements (the vocals are definitely from the demo, right?) and stylistic decisions makes me think this was def recorded for NGHFB and shelved. Glad it's finally out in any case. In the promo e-mail from the NGHFBs mailing list it quotes Noel referring to it as along the lines of 'something I found down the back of the sofa' which suggests it is an old recording. I'm a little bit disappointed to be honest - would liked to have heard a fresh recording by the current band.

I like the fact he made it slower and it has a nice groove from start to finish. Would have fitted nicely in CY or DOYS. Still, this is one of those songs where you can clearly feel it was written to fit Liam's voice, and in this case it was actually the case. Another example of how DOYS could have had a way better second half with less turmoil and more quality control around the band.

I realy like this song, didn't listen to the demo that much so no disappointment compared to it.
A Liam-sung version definitely should've been on DOYS instead of the dull tracks; but as it is, with Noel's vocals, it would've fit nicely on "Chasing yesterday".

Love this tune, he didn't spoiled the perfection of demo, love new solo and keys during the song. Didn't catch 3bpm difference, the only think I noticed choir is a bit softer and quieter. But anyway it's classic, innit?

This sounds...like it was supposed to be on HFB1. It should've been instead of Stop The Clocks or Record Machine.
Doesn't sound too bad, considering Sardy put his hands on it, but it drags a bit. I liked the ''heavyness'' of the demo and I think it's a shame that didn't really return in this version.
Oh well, it's not as awful as Revolution Song turned out.

Did Noel do an interview to support the single?

Did Noel do an interview to support the single? Gordon Smart read an "introduction" to the song from Noel before playing it, which included the "back of the couch" bit. That's the only thing attributed to Noel about the song that I have seen so far.

I liked the ''heavyness'' of the demo and I think it's a shame that didn't really return in this version. Oh well, it's not as awful as Revolution Song turned out. I completely agree. It's by no means a bad recording, is very decent in fact if I'd never heard the demo, but lacks the rawness of that demo. The slightly faster pace of the demo plus the heavier bass riff gives it that extra aggression and tension. I also prefer the fade out of the demo. The extra keyboards are nice but having it replacing the sheer heavy riff at the end makes it more of an anti-climax than the demo. That raw feel and the swift pace of the original beats it easily. Just imagine it with Liam's vocals though, it would be brilliant and still have no clue why this was left off Dig Out Your Soul (the wedding excuse a piss poor one). Noel is a fine vocalist but there's a reason why Liam is iconic.

this is pretty fucking great. headphones to hear the guitars right - and the keys are nice slower? from 96 to 93? slower? this is nothing, you only thought it was slower because the first verse is 'quiet'
can't wait to build a beautiful album/playlist with the new songs.
and Simple Game Of Genius came up next at work AND at home. what could have been HFB #1....
