I was thinking about this the other day, the two songs have the opposite problems. Once has too cliched a build-up, with it's Beatles-drumming and schmaltzy strings, while The Archer has almost no build-up at all. If the former was more eerie like the latter, and the latter was more dynamic like the former, they'd both be better.
Say it quietly, but they're at a pretty similar quality level. Both pleasant, unremarkable ballads from artists who have done much better in the past.
