So having heard the song on repeat on my AirPods for the last hour and worked it out on the guitar here are my thoughts:
- the drum beat is FUCKING AWESOME. It sounds so fucking good and has got an amazing groove to it. Granted I've not heard it in the car or on proper speakers yet but my word, love it! - great chorus as usual, and I like how it changes on the second chorus structure wise and then the decent guitar solo with some unorthodox notes and not just pentatonic minor. It also goes to a B5 in the scale of Eminor which gives the impression it changes key for the solo. I like it, sounds good - lyrics are interesting, "we're one and the same now" (him and Liam?) "nature is dancing and it makes me sweat" (the trend of dance music being prominent as opposed to rock right now?) - "oh fly" is that Jess? Love that bit - loving the production on AirPods (true test is through speakers though). There's a lot going on from the second verse/bridge onwards, deceptively so. Lots of guitar licks and synths, reminds me of Daft Punk Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger in terms of the sonic landscape. Very cool - similar synth sound to Keep On Reaching is on it and I love that song and that sound.
If it was on WBTM it wouldn't sound out of place and would be in my top 5 songs off that album. Can't wait to hear the B-sides!

What’s the quality for the digital download single or preorder? Is there a FLAC option?

5/10, and that’s generous.
Chorus is weak as fuck. Weak sauce.

I don't know how anyone listened to As You Were more than once, and they say this is dull, but there you go.

This could have been the High Horse Lady of WBTM. Thank God he left it off. I see a lot of 8's and 9's being thrown around, probably because it's Noel, and probably because he decided to do "something different". I agree with the pissing in a toilet analogy that someone else came up with. I predict in a few weeks some of these 8's and 9's will begin to drop. That is normal here. I think a lot of us are guilty of it, that's what excitement over new material can do. Usually upon release, everything here is the best thing since DM. A couple weeks later its dropped off, but it's still the best thing since BHN, and pisses all over any 2000s Oasis record. Then once the dust settles, I'm usually not around between cycles (get him, he's not a devoted fan!), and when I come back when the next cycle is ready, I see the beloved song and/or album has become "Meh, it has 3 good tunes and the rest is filler or plodding dross". I think the album most guilty of that is CY. It was beloved at first and when I came back for the anticipation of WBTM, it was almost universally shat on. A couple songs that seemed to fall under that pattern were IIHAG and LATD. And a bunch more.

i mean... y'all... it's REALLY bad. it's not even bad because of its genre, it's just not good at even being what it was supposed to be. After 25 years he's entitled to make the music he wants to make, but I think this is where me and Noel Gallagher part ways. There's just nothing in there that reflects what I've always loved about his music. yeah, i was kind of feeling this way after the last album but i was hoping he'd come back around. makes me sad, honestly.

For me it’s a 4..I think it’s a bit tuneless ie not enough melody and certainly not living up to or at least referencing the influencers he cited..underwhelmed

I’m terribly sorry but I’d suggest that anyone who gives this tune more than a 5 needs to go and listen to more music

It sounds very modern, repetitive and radio friendly. This could be huge. I'm so glad Noel has managed to change his sound and style and not trying to re produce the '90s
P.S. It would be mega with Liam on vocals 😎

What’s the quality for the digital download single or preorder? Is there a FLAC option? The file that comes with the vinyl is a 320 kbps mp3. I'll wait until release and then buy the whole thing lossless on Qobuz or 7digital.

The question is what should we compare it with?
We could compare it with classic Oasis anthems like Some Might Say, Supersonic, Live Forever. If so then it's shite.
We could compare it with Noel's previous solo stuff, like Death Of You And Me, Riverman, What A Life. If so then it's shite.
We could compare it to other artists that have tried to "branch out", let's take Radiohead, like Knives Out, There There, Burn The Witch. If so then it's shite.

I find it hard to believe the same man gave us songs like Sad Song, The Masterplan, Live Forever etc etc etc etc. I’m starting to think Bonehead and Guigsy really wrote the first three albums then fucked off when Noel said he wanted to have a go at writing

Still better than anything off of that fucking horrid latest Arctic Monkeys album. Four Out Of Five is a brilliant song and i'm not even a fan of them. That song is better than anything Noel has written in years.

It's a nice change in direction for me. It's a decent song with some very good bits. So a 7 is probably fair for me. But yeh, opinions.

It just moulds into one, but not like in a medley way. That being said, Four Out Of Five is a great tune, and when I saw them live in Auckland in March, they were ace.

I'd had enough after a few songs. But anyway, that's for another conversation. Back to the mid-life crisis music..

There's some really nice parts in it. There's some that just don't seem right. But I'd rather this than another Dying of the Light (which I do really like, but we've already got it) or another DITW (for the same reasons) or a plodding dad rock tune.
