It took a few listens but I got into it. Not my favourite HFB single by a long shot but it's pretty good. I agree. It's a good track, but I hope we get better ones from Noel this year. Ranking the High Flying Birds singles: 1. Holy Mountain 2. The Death of You and Me 3. Ballad of the Mighty I 4. What a Life! 5. She Taught Me How to Fly 6. In the Heat of the Moment 7. Everybody's on the Run 8. If Love is the Law 9. Beautiful World 10. Riverman 11. The Dying of the Light 12. Dream On 13. Black Star Dancing14. If I Had a Gun... 15. Lock All the Doors Thirteenth makes it seem like I hate it haha, but Noel's had an undeniably solid solo career really. Hmm good idea. I'll give that a go, though my list will surely confuse a lot of people: 1. If Love is the Law 2. Everybody's On The Run 3. She Taught Me How To Fly 4. What A Life! 5. Holy Mountain 6. If I Had a Gun 7. Dream On 8. In The Heat of the Moment 9. The Death of You and Me 10. Riverman 11. Beautiful World 12. Black Star Dancing 13. Lock All The Doors 14. The Dying of the Light 15. Ballad of Mighty I That being said, I could see getting into BSD enough that it moves above Riverman

Best music video from HFB in my opinion. It made me enjoy the song a bit more.
By the way, I think the elder people in the video are a metaphor to portrait some Oasis fans.

Surprised at first, but after a few days I can't get this tune out of my head. To me, as a first single, this is way better then Holy Mountain.
Gave it an 8.

Great video, probably the coolest music video I've seen in years. Like someone mentioned earlier, its a room full of the Stand By Me cover couple, along with the 1970 Isle of Wight Festival freaks spliced into the FITB single.
Brilliant idea.

One note: the old couple from the Stand By Me single referenced several times in this thread are Brian Cannon's parents, the person who designed all the single and album covers for the first three albums.....his father's still with us, he's like 90, blind but still alive....
I disliked the Stand By Me single album cover when it came out, but years later finding out it was Brian Cannon's parents gave it some significance and grew to like it.....
God bless.

I thought it was his girlfriend's parents?

Can't get into it, unfortunately. Listened to it three times now, and don't even remember what it sounds like. I just remember being bored as f*ck listening to it.

Could be 10/10 video if Noel didn't locked himself in studio ( obvious that band and club were filmed from different venues, and Noel's venue is his studio - as well as ITHOTM and HM and IABW videos which is boring) and performed in this 'club' as well - it could be very funny. Idea is very cool anyway This is because Noel doesn’t have a time machine. They’ve spliced his performance into footage from a real TV programme from the 70s... Weird thought but most of the people in the video are now dead. X

Anyone listen to the 12inch mix?. Its alot more funky It's just an extended version. Very slightly re-arranged, to the point of being nearly pointless.

I'm fine with this style of music but the song isn't super strong. Decent enough but I wouldn't listen more than once if it wasn't Noel.

Received a mp3 of Black Star Dancing 12 Mix from his official store as I pre-ordered the both black and picture discs. I just don't hear much difference than the original one?

As I suspected it’s just filler. To count towards the UK singles chart, vinyl can only have a limited number of songs, but alternative versions of the same song don’t count towards the limit. So this really is just padding to justify calling it an EP. X

X Okay, no problem with that, I didn't know about this 'cause I thought it's kinda parody of 60's-70's Eastern Europe's TV shows but with modern background actors (I'm not really into British TV shows, I'm Russian). Now I checked who Bernard Manning was so I got that whole idea. But anyway, if Noel had more budget for actors and filmed this in real club like this, then it could be the funniest Gallagher video of all time imo

I imagine not many people under the age of 50 know about that show, even in Britain. I had to Google it. X

Pardon my ignorance, but is 'Black Star Dancing' only coming out on vinyl and digital? Or, cd as well?
Thanks.

Forgive me for not knowing but are the 12 inch mixes that Noel reveres from the 80s all that different from the single mix, other than their length?

Jesus. Noel thinks we’re all stupid doesn’t he? That 12” version! Same with the two instrumental tracks on the dire Who Built The Moon LP. Almost identical. Pointless. I can’t tell the difference. It’s still a crap tune anyway whether it’s 7”, 12”, 15” with extra cheese....
