I do feel guilty of Rock N Roll Star being mid table. It is a great tune with relatable lyrics, and according to Noel that which defined Oasis, but both DYKWIM and Hello are better somgs imo, and this Bette openers.
I do dislike RNRS’s outro though, it’s a bit grating on ears.

The Hindu Times is a bit sloppy in places. Hindu Times is a bit average but the rest are tip top. Fight me. The lyrical refrain in the bridge (‘cos god gave me soul....’), is nonsensical and annoying, and Liam’s singing on this track is indeed sloppy - one of Liam’s worst vocals on a studio released song. HOWEVER, the demo of THT is immense - the drumming intro, the heavy bass, and even the lyrics make a bang average song into a very good one. Liam would also need to be on the vocals here, of course - I do wonder if there’s a Liam sung version of the demo....? That would be very interesting to hear. |

...the demo of THT is immense - the drumming intro, the heavy bass.... The first time someone played the demo to me I wasn’t told it was Oasis. First three notes got me right there. Hit the sweet spot. Powerful stuff. As soon as I heard the demo intro it instantly reminded me of the intro to this: I do wonder if there’s a Liam sung version of the demo....? That would be very interesting to hear. I’m getting on this, I’ll do everything I can to find out 😎 |

I always thought the 2001 version of The Hindu Times that's halfway between the demo and the version that was released was the best. I even like the unintentional break in the intro in the version I've linked to. The demo is clearly too dirty and basic to go on an Oasis album, but the Heathen Chemistry version is way too processed.

Kept Noel's vocals (even if the lyrics dont match up) cause when I tried to remove them, the backing track lost a bit of power. |
