Some of my favorite new rock bands are: King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard - they did shitton (5 albums last year) of music and every kind too. Mainly fuzzy rock. I'd start with Nonagon Infinity Iceage - they're kinda like an ugly child of Iggy Pop and Nick Cave and that's amazing. I'd start with a new album Idles - punk rock with some amazing melodies. Really fun band, only one album so far but they're getting their second out soon Algiers - they blend rock, soul, jazz, gospel and politics. It's just amazing and powerful Grave Pleasures - very Interpol like with some great dark atmosphere

Who are these “great rock bands” you speak of currently? Arcade Fire, Arctic Monkeys, Killers, Strokes, Queens of Stone Age... Strokes lost it after Room on Fire for me, they've had some shining moments on their following albums but they will always get a pass for me cause of their first two albums. The Killer's are the same after Sam's Town, it's been patchy since. Stick to their greatest hits set and you be doing well imo. Arcade Fire and QOTSA I agree with you. Throw in Black Key's for me. Not too many great rock acts sadly.

Unimpressed and underwhelmed. They tried to replicate their early sound and in my opinion, failed.

They really failed miserably to recreate it then

3 stars out of five from me.
Yes, it is grower and I started to like style of the album (or some songs) and all that but I can't ignore how inconsistent this album is, both in terms of quality and style.
For example:
-The World's First Ever Monster Truck Front Flip - not only that is shit song and poor attempt to write something in style of Pet Sounds and Sgt.Pepper, it also doesn't fit with rest of the album it is real mood killer for me.
- We can't pretend that, for example, Golden Trunks is not just some b side from Humbug era for example, in terms of quality.
- Maybe it's not cool to say, but yes, Four Out of Five is the best song on the album. And when it starts, I say to myself - Finally! And even that song is four stars out of five if we talk about best Arctic Monkeys songs ever.
I really like first few songs and I get into that mood that they tried to create but they failed to keep that feeling and quality through whole album.

Breaking news, they take the truth and make it fluid.

Guy Garvey of Elbow reckons Tranquility Base Hotel + Casino is "amazing," and that 'One Point Perspective' is Turner's "finest work" so far.
I'm just saying, I'll take the opinion of a Mercury Prize winner over some baldy cunt with a YouTube account any day.

Still not doing anything for me after a few more listens. I don't think it's bad, just not really to my taste.

I think it's one of the best things they've done and doesn't put them into a box, as you don't have a clue where they go next. Sadly not a lot of band's out there to do it these day's. But as I said it's definitely not a album for everyone and will split opinion for anyone expecting riff's and a big radio friendly tunes. But they needed a album like this after the huge success of AM.

I saw them live a couple of days ago, it was my first time seeing them and god they were amazing! Alex has such a powerful voice. I really enjoyed it, but I still don’t like the new album, and the new songs were a bit boring played live in my opinion, however it was an amazing experience.
About the new album, I feel like it has some sort of Twin Peaks vibes on it, I’m not sure if I can explain why tho.

I'm seeing them in 3 weeks or so. Setlists are getting better and better. Should be a great night. Didn't see em since 2009

Feels like it could have been filmed from a old 70's episode of Old Grey Whistle Test doesn't it. Anyone at their gig at the Royal Albert Hall last night, heard it was immense. Played Ritz to the Rubble for the first time since 2011. Also Star Treatment got it's first playing, such a great song that. The new album just gets better and better the more you hear the new songs live.

Can't stop playing it.

The Arctic Monkeys is a terrible band name; the singer looks like a 20 year old, instead of a 14 year old, respectively ; I have their newest album on hold at the library, but not sure if I'm gonna pick it up; love ''When The Sun Goes Down'....
Thanks.

I have gray chest hair; no one who celebrates the Arctic Monkeys has any pubic hair. Thanks.
