Good think about this album is that it will be easier to bring them to some festival in Serbia or near me. Well they're in Budapest in august

As possibly expected, Four Out Of Five is the single.

Good video. Big 70s vibes.
Much more vibe-y less song-y from the Monkeys this time around. Not sure I like it (as much) but at least they're being a bit ambitious.

I might be the only person who absolutely loves this album. The songs are patient, detailed, and subtle. Turner is still one of the best lyricists out there, and it's just a complete change in direction. After the massive success of AM, it's astounding that they released this. It's sort of their Radiohead moment, when it's clear that they're making music for themselves and not for the charts. And ultimately, the album is a collage of narrative driven and stream of consciousness, with a tacit and quiet confidence to match. This, in turn with an instrumentation that reveals more of the secrets that it's hiding between the notes makes it into a brilliant piece of art. I LOVE it. Days ago I wrote a long review about it but decided to delete it before hitting submit. Maybe is because it got a little personal.

As possibly expected, Four Out Of Five is the single. Wouldn't be surprised if it's the only song that ends up being a single tbf. Maybe She Looks Like Fun and One Point Perspective, but Four Out Of Five is the standout song on the album for me.

I don't mind the album but I cant help but think its all a bit of a stunt, it's like they've gone out of their way to pick songs devoid of memorable hooks or melodies. It feels a bit like when Dylan released Self Portrait just to piss everyone off and sabotage his own legacy.
I'm half expecting a very quick follow up (maybe next year) which turns out to be the true follow up to AM just so Alex Turner can turn around and say he was on a massive wind up.

I bloody love it. I also love the "Dark Fruits" brigade being up in arms about it.

The hooks in this album are musical, rather than melodically or even lyrically. For example, the fuzzy guitar in bat phone, or the piano in Ultracheese.
Really good album, I've listened to it a lot and it gets better each listen. I maintain, however, it should have been a solo / TLSP album.

I will never listen to this album ever again.
I tried a second listen but couldn’t make it past track 3. I’ve never heard such a boring album in my entire life. Even Heathen Chemistry is better than this nonsense.

Beady's Here Now is a Dark Fruit who one day blossom into a Gammon. It's all in the zeitgeist!

When can we expect a track-by-track review, Lennon? Or do you only do them for Gallagher releases?

Even Heathen Chemistry is better than this nonsense. It really is boring. I'm not saying that is bad, I really didn't listen it enough to judge but I don't have any desire to listen this album again. Or maybe that is enough to say that it is bad...

After the first listen I wasn't too impressed but it really does grow on you.
I have a couple of songs stuck in my head now.

I had time to myself to listen to this, a rarity these days and well I fell asleep! Alex Turner should have just released this as a solo concept album of poetry or something. Not the AM at all!
Thank god for streaming as this won't be getting a repeat listen.
