Don't get me wrong. It's not bad. But The Masterplan it is not.
I do like the Verses, but it loses focus with its chorus. The chorus lacks any sort of hook.
It's also the most blatant rip off of the La's Looking Glass.
Discuss.
SOUND, SOUNd, SOUnd, SOund, Sound, sound....

I remember the disappointment I felt when it finally leaked, Noel hyped it as the new Live Forever.

Any artist is very enamoured with the new material they've come up with and that can sometimes lead to very enthusiastic claims about it. I think it's only with the passage of time that an artist, or anyone else, can truly judge something within their entire body of work. The fact Noel didn't make Stop the Clocks a set list regular says it all about how he feels about it now.

The album version is horrible. I quite like the old Oasis demo version, and I'd like to hear any versions with Liam singing on it. Same with Record Machine.

It's a poor version of Looking Glass. If you're going to rip something off at least make it better.

Maybe he originally imagined it being more experimental or groundbreaking, but somehow it ended up being a regular song when he finally recorded it. Also, if he had released it on 2001 (when he first wrote it) it would've had a different effect on us, for sure.
Having said that, I love it. I get why most people doesn't but I do.

The time and place for that song was for Don't Believe The Truth. Written in 2001, hyped to hell in 2003, passed over in 2005. When it leaked in 2008 many of us were like..............WTF?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

Boring to hell and typifies the entire first High Flying Birds album nowadays for me. Completely forgettable and I am not surprised he doesn't play it live

Yeah I don't get it either. When it leaked I was really massively disappointed and thought it was more than ordinary. Same with Record Machine. I just skip them both on NGHFB.

Currently he's saying that Holy Mountain is one of the best song's he's ever written which is equally as delusional imo.

I imagine he didn't think it was the best thing he has ever written, but was actually trying to talk up a song that at the time might have been recorded for an LP perhaps in part to restore his reputation as a songwriter after the critical kickings for SOTSOG and HC, and since it hadn't been heard no-one could really disagree. He does have form with this including his high praise of 'Magic Pie' around the time of BHN, although to be fair the key word in that particular instance probably is "high" Oh, and as good an excuse as any to post a classic performance-
