Would anyone be interested in an unofficial, fan-made follow up documentary, covering the recording and release of BHN up to the breakup in 2009? From my perspective this would consist of the following: - Concert, rehearsal & studio footage
- TV & radio interviews with band members
- Interviews with other relevant people (Mark Stent, Dave Sardy, etc.)
- The odd clip from official documentaries like the SOTSOG press kit, Lord Don't Slow Me Down, Lock the Box, etc.
All edited together to tell a cohesive story.
Overall I enjoyed Supersonic and would like to keep a consistent style with this project in terms of editing and presentation - i.e. no talking heads. Try to tell the story using images & video combined with audio narration. This would be easier post-1996 as there is a wealth of video footage available given that the band were hugely popular by that time.
I don't consider myself a sage video editor by any means but I'm sure I'd be able to knock something fairly watchable together. After all, to quote Jeremy Clarkson, how hard could it be?
Any ideas for a name? My inclination would be "Falling Down" as that gives it a nice symmetry with Supersonic, being the titles of the first and last singles, and it also works considering the ultimate conclusion of the story.

Great idea, mate..would definitely be interested in this. I don't have much video editing experience, but would be happy to help otherwise..
Namewise, I think we could do better than Falling Down. The symmetry idea is good, but Falling Down seems to evoke images of collapsing away which Oasis didn't really do. Ok, they perhaps didn't hit the heights of the early days ever again, but that was always going to be a tough ask. Perhaps something to indicate a sense of things being planned and becoming a bit more formulaic might work, like Masterplanned or Acquiesced?

Absolutely mint idea I cant really contribute anything although I will watch the fuck out of this if it happens.Maybe have a little section where forum members recollect their favourite gig memory or how they felt when a certain song or album came out. We could record audio of ourselves and maybe add pics to it etc

I'm thinking that a book would be a good medium for this, something to hold and leaf through time and again - like one's favourite album cover/sleeve notes Watch this space..

Due to the large amount of material available I would suggest that it would need to be split into two parts, BHN era to HC and then HC to the break up.

Wow, thanks for the responses guys, I'm glad to see so much interest. You're right, as Noel has said, he felt like Oasis just got bigger and bigger as time went on, selling more records and playing bigger venues. So maybe Falling Down isn't very evocative - I'd like to avoid anything from the pre-BHN era for the title though as it would be a bit misleading! Due to the large amount of material available I would suggest that it would need to be split into two parts, BHN era to HC and then HC to the break up. I was thinking this to myself last night, 12 years is probably a bit too much ground to cover - especially seeing as Supersonic only covered 3 or 4. And while I'm sure we'd all love to see a 4 hour Oasis documentary it might be a bit unwieldy. I'm up for this and I have a DVD I bought off eBay that I could contribute? It has all sorts of interviews with Noel and Liam Thanks, that would be awesome! Would you be happy to post them to me? I live in London. I can return them once I've grabbed the video (promise ) - PM me with your details if you're up for it. The first stage of this project will be to gather as much material as possible in terms of audio and video. This is where the members here come in: I will need a list of all the different resources you can think of. I want the finished product to be at least DVD quality, so I'd like to avoid YouTube rips where possible. Here's a start, going off the top of my head: - The Live Forever Britpop documentary - contains lots of discussion with Noel and Liam about Be Here Now
- Noel's recent retrospective interview about Be Here Now - this was uploaded to YouTube in HD so it's OK to include I think
- Standing on the Shoulder of Giants EPK documentary
- Heathen Chemistry EPK documentary
- Don't Believe the Truth documentary - I've seen the 4 minute clip on YouTube, is there a longer and higher quality version?
- Lord Don't Slow Me Down doc - the blu-ray version has the full Etihad stadium gig as a bonus disc I believe
- Familiar to Millions - I don't own the DVD. Does it have any special features? Interviews etc?
- Sky broadcast of the Wembley 2000 shows - I seem to recall a lot of extra backstage footage. Anybody know where I can get a recording of this?
- Lock the Box DVD - not a huge amount of discussion about the post-MG era but still useful
I'll be checking eBay and elsewhere regularly for other bits and pieces. In terms of audio I'll start buying up the CD singles to get a hold of all the B-sides, live versions etc. Advice on how to acquire any unreleased stuff (e.g. Lord Don't Slow Me Down with Liam on vocals) would be appreciated.

Lock the Box DVD - not a huge amount of discussion about the post-MG era but still useful The DBTT documentary is called The Ear Has No Memory and can be found on Youtube in full. IIRC it's about 25min long. The 2nd night at Wembley ("shithole") doesn't include extra backstage footage. LDSMD Blue-ray doesn't have Ethiad gig as a bonus disc but the City of Manchester Stadium gig from 2005 with few of the songs cut out (Bring it on down I think). According to Wikipedia Familiar to Millions DVD has 45 minute documentary of shot in and around Wembley by Grant Gee including backstage interviews and fans footage. I only recall Liam ranking the albums. The VHS includes a 20-minute documentary (entitled "Mad Fer It") featuring exclusive interviews with Liam and Noel which I don't remember seeing. Then there's the Tour of Brotherly Love documentary on that was spread out on the HC era DVD-singles. And definitely there should be something about STC tour of Noel & Gem! Anyway, I sent you a PM. Hope this helped and we get the ball rolling!

www.amazon.co.uk/Where-Did-All-Wrong-Millennium/dp/0957684355/ref=asap_bc?ie=UTF8Nick Amies - Where did it all go wrong You could use this book as some kind of blueprint, at least until 2000, as it deals with the time between then and Knebworth. It was put together using - seemingly - all the secondary sources, as he could not get the band and the people around them to speak to him, but nonetheless it was a good read and I wished he would do the rest of the band history.

β’ If it's picking up wher 'Supersonic' left off the Right Here Right Now documentary should be a starting point along with the Air Studios performance and the D'You Know What I Mean HD video
β’ News clips of Bonehead and Guigsy leaving (do they exist?) with Noel audio clip talking about their departure dubbed over footage
β’ Jools Holland in 2000 should be included too as it was the first appearance of Oasis mkII in Britain

Yep, there was a piece with backstage, pre, during and post gig clips of the gig/crowd and snippets of Liam and Noel talking to the radio DJ Gary Crowley - it's on YouTube: part 1 - part 2 - part 3 - part 4 -

I am a professional video editor and I would love to help out with this. It would be great to find someone who could create some great motion graphics like Supersonic had in place of missing footage.

really great idea someone should ask Mat Whitecross to give some of that hours of unused amateur material. The most interesting parts of the supersonic film to me were the ' backstage' scenes where you could see the real people behind the "rock images".

I actually started doing an Oasis "documentary" several years ago using all the footage I'd collected over the years - it was shaping up pretty nicely.
This was the intro to the early episodes:
Then several things happened:
1) My Mac died. 2) My wife had twins. 3) Supersonic came out
So it's kind of been on the back burner for a while, although I have just about finished a half-hour episode devoted to Be Here Now which is pretty cool.
If I get time I'll try and upload it and post a link.

This is a great idea. I only saw Supersonic for the first time a few months ago and thought straight away there should be follow ups - perhaps one covering Be Here Now up to Heathen Chemistry/Glastonbury and one covering the build up to DBTT, the "rebirth" and the split.
Might be worth tweeting the likes of Bonehead and Gem, they may be willing to do an interviews over the phone that you could use

Iβd love Oasis to do an official hardback book in the vein of The Beatles Anthology one or The Beastie Boys book. It would need minimal input from the band members given the wealth of photos and interviews already out there. X
