Write good songs and everything will fall into place.
Not really. I personally think Noel did a better job on producing CY than Sardy did on HFB1, but I think the songs on HFB1 are much better. I actually had to think pretty hard to remember what songs are actually on CY.

Sometimes I wake up sweating in the dead of night, having dreamt of a Sardy-produced album that starts with "one..two...three...four..." and then some acoustic strumming of the Wonderwall chords. Disturbing stuff.

One of my favourite little bits from the WBTM album cycle was when Noel said that Mike Rowe started playing along to Dead in the Water with him, after 'working out the chords'.
DITW is the best song on the album along with TMWBTW, which sounds a lot like Oasis.
I don't mind if next album is with Sardy or Holmes or whoever, just ignore that ridiculous idea of writing only in studio because you listen to one Blondie album and you end up with 80s sounding duds *nothing wrong with Blondie, it just doesn't fit Noel's style and half the songs on WBTM are sub par
people complain about dad rock but dad dance is so much worse

I don't think only writing in the studio caused anything to happen.
Noel has written plenty of duds outside of the studio as well.
Album 4 will be written in the studio with Pharrell Williams who will subsequently join the lineup. It will be laden with big beats and shiny pop melodies. Noel will rename his act Noel Gallagher's high flying NERDS and start wearing a massive hat.
Still hoping for this. X
Turns out Beck went off and did the Pharrell thing...

Yes but he's severely limiting what he can put on the album if he keeps going by that rule. What if he writes an amazing song at home? Why is that not going on the album just because it wasn't written in the studio. It's a ridiculous way to go about things in my opinion.

The point of writing in the studio was to troubleshoot Noel from using Oasis cliches.
It wouldn't surprise me if that rule got lax between Holmes and Noel in the future, especially as Noel is beginning to write on different instruments like bass and naturally not going to his usual well of tricks.
But at the beginning, it's like a work out/diet plan, it's going to be strict.

The claim that everything was written 100% in the studio is exaggerated anyway. We know Holmes gave Noel the chewing gum kid sample and he said he tinkered away on it while touring. So he definitely wrote some of Holy Mountain outside the studio. Probably true of other tracks too.
I was listening to Keep On Reaching earlier, man I love that driving bass line and relentless beat. And Noel’s vocals really have an edge to it. Love it’s soul driven influences too. Sounds nothing like anything Noel’s done before and we’d certainly not have got anything like it if it hadn’t been for Holmes.
But what next? Yet another fucking boring Kinks or Bowie inspired mid tempo plodder? Jesus suffering fuck, let’s hope not.

Keep on Reaching is still the one song from WBTM that I can't completely wrap my arms around.
I think the lyrics are pretty terrible, they're constantly fighting against the music. I also think it goes on for entirely too long (probably by around 15-20 seconds).

Fucking hell, he really wrote some of Holy Mountain outside the studio? How nobody heard what he was doing, took him aside and gave his head a wobble I don't know.

In all honesty, if you play the song on an acoustic guitar without the flourishes of the studio version... it's a pretty standard Noel tune.

All I know is for the love of everything that is holy do not let Sardy within 100 miles of the studio while this album is being recorded.
