As most of us are from different countries, I thought I would be nice if there was a place for us to share our positive experiences and attitudes towards other countries and their citizens.
When I participated in a student exchange between Germany and Italy, I was genuinely surprised at how much effort Italian people put into conversations with me and my friends. I don't speak Italian and I was really grateful that they tried to express themselves in so many ways, especially since many of them couldn't speak English very well. I've never experienced that before.
Apologies if a similar thread already exists.

I've visited some Balkan countries (Kosovo, Albania, Montenegro) and all the people were really nice there. The guy who rented us apartment from Montenegro was a really nice guy and asked if we're ever going to come back to Montenegro. He was also a football supporter and had travelled to their away games Nice countries, gonna visit them again some day (maybe even next year if they're in the same Nations League group). I've only been to London couple of times but I immediately felt like I could stay there longer, something in that city attracted me. I couldn't visit any pubs though because I was only 16-17 at the time. I remember I also had a crush on one English girl there on my first trip. I was at the London Dungeon and she and her friend were quite close to me all the time during the tour. At one point there was some kind of "show" and everyone would sit on the bench to watch it. I was one of the first in that room and the girls followed me and sat next to me even though there were lots of other spots left. I was too shy to talk to them, though (surprisingly) I've been to other countries but I have quite neutral feelings. Not really anything bad to say but I don't remember anything particularly good either. Well, I was quite young when I was in Tunisia but there was one guy who helped us a lot during the trip. Showed some tourist attractions, etc. Italy was quite nice as well.

When I went on my first solo trip to Wales & England all those years ago I was quite surprised how nice and helpful people were, including bus drivers. That only made me realise how rude my own country(wo)men are! But I could literally ask anyone anytime anything and got assistance, sometimes even without asking. Also, how easy it is to get into a conversation, just by standing at a bus stop. Of course, I know it does mean anything, but it still felt nice being called love and even sweetheart from random people. And it's been the same every time I went there, same in Scotland and last in Dublin. Can't wait to go again. One day!

We have more than weeds and red light districts in this clogland. We also have van Gogh, Rembrandt, Vermeer and all that.
Edit: I misread the thread's title. My bad.
I have always had something to do with Scotland - people and music. I've lived in England for a while when I was younger and during my stay in England, I made 4 days trip with my friend to Scotland - Glasgow, Edinburgh and Inverness. I used to have had a male Scottish friend. After all many many years all those memories and people I met in Scotland makes me still smile.

The rest of America inspires my imagination as much as a flannel, but I would like to go to New York. Preferably 70+ years ago, but hey - where's Peter Capaldi when ya need him?

I was looking at Norwegian prices and thought, fucking hell, I could fly to New York, Los Angeles or Miami for under 200€. Or Boston for 120€. I've never visited any other continent (except for Africa when I was in Tunisia) so it feels like a distant dream to fly somewhere so far away from home. Of course I'll visit America some day but no idea when. Japan and New Zealand are other places I want to visit before I die.

I’m in love with Italy. Proper in love.
Sogno d’Italia.
Felt like I’d arrived home when I visited.

I've loved my trips in Austria, Germany and Italy. I'm actually planning a european tour trip in a van with friends for next summer, so I'll come back in those countries.

Central Europe is great because the distances are so short that you can travel almost everywhere. I'd love to do longer trip in Europe (or UK), sleep in hostels, buy cheap food and move with bus/train. It shouldn't cost too much but I dunno...

The most exotic place I've been is Wales but for some reason, I always feel like I'll end up in Iceland. We'll see, I suppose.

Take a vacation in the south, hear the cicadas during the summer, drink some fine wine while lying down on the hammock. This is, as would say our italian friends, la "Dolce Vita".

The politeness thing (which, while being a massive generalisation, is to a certain extent probably true when you observe the way people from other countries act in restaurants or hotels, never thanking the staff, etc.) I think makes a lot of people simply unable to be anything other than friendly to people they don't know -- even if, inside, they'd rather not be. Don't know about us being outgoing though. I think pretty much EVERYONE I know is an introvert at heart. I have just a few aunties and uncles, and a mad grandma who aren't.

Yeah, much cheaper indeed. Wanted to do that for trip in Scotland in August but had to cancel this. Must try it one day.

shoutout to nearly every country on the planet for being cheaper to live in than mine... This! Can't wait for black friday. Turns out the car repair was a lot cheaper than I expected so I can spend money on travelling again Norwegian had some great offers last year so I gotta look at their flights when they go on sale. I think it will be -30% every flight inside Europe and they'll make some individual offers even cheaper. My mate bought a flight to Nice only 18€ one-way which is ridiculously cheap compared to our normal prices. Any suggestions for next year?
