It gets better with every listen. So fresh and 2017 yet still feels very classic Gallagher.

Come Back To Me, Wall Of Glass and Chinatown are the only tracks I like in studio. Rest are better live, don't dig the production. Too clean, 0 impact for me.

Safe is the word you're looking for. Nah, mate. DBTT was safe. This is an improvement (regarding production).

Safe is the word you're looking for. Indeed. It is very safe in terms of it's production. It is essentially a fairy polished/safe sounding album, typical of pretty much all major label releases. today That was obviously the objective from the beginning, judging by who they got in to work on the album. It is what it is. It's a sound we've all heard before and that applies to the songwriting too. If you want an album that you can just stick on, not really have to concentrate on it and enjoy some fairly simple/generic but nice enough tunes, then it does the job. It's nothing different and was never going to be. It basically appeals to the target audience. For me personally, i doubt it's something i'd sit and listen to from start to finish again.

It's the production that really elevates this album, and saves the album from mediocrity.
It's rich, vibrant, and layered.

I think the production is okay. Decent, it works most of the time, but it is very safe too. Hardly the best since SOTSOG, IMO. DOYS also had a really colourful, clear sound and 'theme' to it.
I agree it tried to walk that line between 60s and modern but often dips too 60s, resulting in a DGSS kind of result. Not that this is a terrible thing but it definitely opens the album up to criticism that you know is going to come.
