I've made a new tracklisting of SOTSOG and what it could've been, to get myself in the mood for Noel's 3rd album.
1. Fuckin' In The Bushes 2. Go Let It Out 3. Cigarettes In Hell 4. Let's All Make Believe 5. Gas Panic! 6. Where Did It All Go Wrong? 7. Carry Us All 8. One Way Road 9. I Can See A Liar 10. Roll It Over
This tracklisting flows nicely because some of the songs in the same key ('Carry Us All' into 'One Way Road' into 'I Can See A Liar') are next to each other.
Feel free to add your own suggestions using B-Sides and existing album track from this era.

Two real paths that could have been taken:

+
HEATHEN CHEMISTRY (2002) 1) The Hindu Times 2) Force of Nature 3) Little by Little 4) Songbird 5) Stop Crying Your Heart Out 6) Shout it Out Loud 7) The Roller 8) She is Love 9) All in the Mind 10) Idler's Dream 11) Born on a Different Cloud
OR
HEATHEN CHEMISTRY (2002) 1) Fuckin' in the Bushes 2) Go Let it Out 3) Who Feels Love? 4) Where Did it All Go Wrong? 5) The Hindu Times 6) Gas Panic! 7) Let's All Make Believe 8) Little by Little 9) Stop Crying Your Heart Out 10) Full On 11) Idler's Dream 12) Roll it Over

How was Let's all make Believe a B Side for this album. I mean the great B sides on DM and WTSMG fair enough because they were two great albums but come on Noel...

The start is great: Fuckin' in the Bushes, Go Let It Out, Who Feels Love? But the rest of the album is such a disappointment Let's All Make Believe is amazing though.

I have two alternate versions, one is the realistic version and the other is my dream version,
Realistic
Fuckin in the Bushes Go Let It Out Who Feels Love? Where Did It All Go Wrong? Let's All Make Believe Gas Panic! Full On (Liam) It's a Crime (Liam) Sunday Morning Call Roll It Over
My version
Fuckin in the Bushes Go Let It Out Who Feels Love? Teothihuican except 1 Little By Little (with some proper production this would be 10x better) Let's All Make Believe Gas Panic! Where Did It All Go Wrong? Teothihuican excerpt 2 Full On (Liam) It's A Crime (Liam) Idlers Dream Roll It Over

I'd say:
Fuckin' in the Bushes Go Let it Out Who Feels Love? Full On Let's All Make Believe Gas Panic! Where Did it All Go Wrong? One Way Road Roll it Over

I'd say: Fuckin' in the Bushes Go Let it Out Who Feels Love? Full On Let's All Make Believe Gas Panic! Where Did it All Go Wrong? One Way Road Roll it Over This is about the best I've seen so far. It's all very well saying Full On (with Liam on vocals) but the real conundrum with an alternate SOTSOG is how you make it work with what we've got from that period. The one above is pretty much where I get to when I do this - can't quite get to a 10-track album without it being too Noel-heavy or including a pretty average/crap tune just because Liam sings it.

It is a shame that there are so many Noel-sung songs from this period since Liam's vocals were on form during the recording process but there are some points where the album feels like a Noel solo project with Alan White on drums and it shows with the output we got. I thought about putting I Can See a Liar at track two or three since it'd be decent and energetic enough to slot in one of those places, but it just wasn't worth it in the end. A nice nine song collection like the one above would've worked well since all of the songs are very good to mark a return from a fall from grace.

I think this is my favorite Oasis era - bunch of greatly produced songs with a touch of going up there aleady.
solid gigs, we've got one tour with Steve White on drums, the new lads were on fire Liam's voice out there. Whitey's back... the peak at the Barrowlands was fucking mint.

I'd say: Fuckin' in the Bushes Go Let it Out Who Feels Love? Full On Let's All Make Believe Gas Panic! Where Did it All Go Wrong? One Way Road Roll it Over I really liked this, 9 solid songs, also Full On with Liam on vocals of course, the only problem imo is the two Noel sung songs togheter, I would have put WDIAGW after WFL, away from OWR.

My attempt:
1. Fuckin' in the Bushes 2. Go Let It Out 3. Who Feels Love? 4. One Way Road 5. Gas Panic! 6. Where Did It All Go Wrong? 7. I Can See a Liar 8. Let's All Make Believe 9. Roll It Over
Runtime: 42 minutes.
Still doesn't really work (LAMB and Roll It Over are probably too similar to go one after the other), but ehh, what can you do? Clearly, the funk was not within Noel during this album cycle.
It remains a tantalising question though, What if Giants was actually good? Because, as it is, it wasn't a million away. Liam still had the greatest voice of anyone making guitar music, and the way they got the tunes to sound in production and all that was randomly really good as well... They just needed better tunes. Or a wider variety of them (i.e., not just melancholic ballad-types).

For me... Giants could have been a classic.
Id rather have had Heathen Chemistry never happen and used the two tunes Liam wrote in France to actually go on the album they were recording at the fucking time.
Would loved to have heard Full on and Force of Nature with a Liam Vocal. But as it stands they'd be relegated to B-Sides.
Little by Little was also a CHOOON they could have put on the album at the time but wouldnt have fit the sound of the album in my opinion. And if we Shadows as a full Band with Liam on Vox could have been an Amazing closer.
Anyway... Heres my Current Playlist.
01 Fuckin in the Bushes 02 Go Let it out 03 Who feels Love 04 Lets all make believe 05 Idlers Dream 06 Songbird 07 Gas Panic 08 Teotihuacan [Excerpt] 09 Where did it all go wrong? 10 Born on a different Cloud 11 Roll it Over

Using just the tracks I have:
1. In The Bushes 2. Go Let It Out 3. I Can See A Liar 4. Full On 5. Who Feels Love? 6. Little James 7. Gas Panic 8. Where Did It All Go Wrong? 9. Let’s All Make Believe 10. Roll It Over
A nice upbeat start with Go Let It Out, I Can See A Liar and Full On then slowly transforming into dark terroitray with the end of the album
Though saying that, I'd rather they took longer time out and done both Standing and Heathen together and for it to look like this:
SINGLE 1: Go Let It Out - Full On & Carry Us All SINGLE 2: Stop Crying Your Heart Out - Sunday Morning Call & Idlers Dream SINGLE 3: Where Did It All Go Wrong? - Put Yer Money & Thank You For The Good Times
2001/02 - Standing On The Heathen With Giant Chemistry
1. Fuckin’ In The Bushes 2. Go Let It Out 3. Hung In A Bad Place 4. Stop Crying Your Heart Out 5. Gas Panic 6. Where Did It All Go Wrong? (Demo) 7. The Hindu Times (more like the demo) 8. Songbird (more dark like the demo) 9. Little By Little (more like the demo) 10. Let’s All Make Believe 11. Born On A Different Cloud 12. Roll It Over
SINGLE 4: Gas Panic - I Can See A Liar & Just Gettin’ Older

Teotihuacan evolved into Keep What Ya Got so I'm guessing that doesn't count. Anyway, here's mine:
1. Fuckin' In The Bushes 2. Go Let It Out 3. Who Feels Love 4. Full On (Liam) 5. Let's All Make Believe 6. Gas Panic! 7. Where Did It All Go Wrong? 8. One Way Road 9. Carry Us All 10. Roll It Over
But to me the album is great as it is. One of my favourites from Oasis,in my top 3 definitely. Would've changed some bits,Full On instead of PYMWYMI and Lets All Make Believe instead of Little James and that would be enough.

For anyone who is curious here's the full list of songs available to them at the time:
Noel Gallagher Written: - Fuckin’ In The Bushes [A-Side] - Go Let It Out [A-Side] - Who Feels Love? [A-Side] - Put Yer Money Where Yer Mouth Is [A-Side] - Gas Panic! [A-Side] - Where Did It All Go Wrong? [A-Side] - Sunday Morning Call [A-Side] - I Can See A Liar [A-Side] - Roll It Over [A-Side] - Let’s All Make Believe [B-Side/Bonus Track] - (As Long as They've Got) Cigarettes in Hell [B-Side] - One Way Road [B-Side] - Carry Us All [B-Side] - Full On [B-Side]

Depending on where you want to draw the line I guess you could also include Be Here Now leftovers 'Untitled' ("Only for the young"...), 'If We Shadows' and maybe even that instrumental they tried to palm us off with as the 'Trip Inside [Mustique Demo]'.
Liam Gallagher Written: - Little James [A-Side]
Paul McCartney Written: - Helter Skelter [B-Side/Cover/Be Here Now Leftover]

To me, even though I like the tune, you can tell it's basically just a demo. As with most of the SOTSOG-era tunes, it sounds like something's missing. Therefore, get it out the way relatively early, sandwiched in between a single and one of the album's big hitters, and leave the magnificent Let's All Make Believe to be the penultimate track. That was my thinking, anyway.

I find Carry Us All to be un-listenable and there are very few, maybe under 5 songs, that I feel that way in the entire Gallagher catalogue. Yes including Beady Eye. Actually the only two I can think of right now are Carry Us All and Ballroom Figured.
