Aye the did Time For Livin' which is cool. You are right, they didn't work on One To Another. They did release a remix EP : The Charlatans vs The Chemical Brothers Toothache (Chemical Risk Mix) Toothache (Chemical Instrumental) Chemical Risk Dub (Toothache Mix) Nine Acre Dust Another couple of remixes : Patrol (The Chemical Brothers Remix) Feel The Pressure (The Chemical Brothers Dub) Tim Burgess also sang on two Chemical Brothers songs, Life Is Sweet and The Boxer. Tom Rowlands provided the beats for One To Another: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/One_to_AnotherJust listen to the intro - could easily be the start to a Chem's track. Wouldn't complain with that subtle type of sampling on Noel's album. Didn't know that, nice one.

Just checked the CD booklet and apparently Tom Rowlands provided the loops for three songs on that album, With No Shoes and Tellin Stories as well. All three are pretty great.

Lock All The Doors? It's just such a pale imitation of a Definitely Maybe song. I'm no fan of the melody, Noel's vocals are very poor over the rock sound (sorry Noel, you cannot sing rock songs very well in my opinion), and the actual music itself is so flat and bland.

Lock All the Doors was perfect in 93. The rawness of the sound and the innocence of Liam's voice. Maybe it could have had the All Around the World treatment in '97 and have been good. But over 20 years later with older Noel singing it, meh. Its a low point on CY for me.

Lock all the doors and you know we cant go back are kind of the same song to me. Prefer the latter though. The rest of chasing yesterday is a lot stronger to me!

Lock All The Doors and You Know We Can't Go Back are definitely the two weakest tracks on CY for me. Both safe and soulless, honestly.

I like both, they're a bit more up tempo and add a bit of classic Noel to some of the slightly more adventurous (not a huge amount, but still a bit more varied than usual) stuff on the album. Just missing Noel's guitar work from the original demo of LATD, and Liam's vocals obviously. Hopefully Noel does a bit more varied guitar work on this new record.

The more that time goes on the more I think that:
A: No chance we are getting this album in November, I wouldn't put it past Noel to do another CY and delay until March.
B: Noel might shock us all and randomly drop the album in its entirety on Spotify etc in November at some point.
The silence is deafening.

Lock all the Doors is so meh. It's a good Noel 90's chorus that somehow got put on autopilot. The verse lyrics are trash, Noel's voice doesn't really fit the song, it's too mid-tempo, and the production is too clean.
It's by far my least favorite song on Chasing Yesterday, and that includes the Mexican.

C'mon guys, Lock All The Doors is neither the best or the worst song on CY. It's a really average track, the verse melody is meh, the guitars sound too clean, Noel sounds shit, it wouldn't even be a b-side if it was released in 1994 (maybe a D-side) but there are worst trash on this album.
In The Heat of The Moment is absolutely terrible and so are Do The Damage and The Mexican (DTD could be a Miles Kane song). There is fuck all to it, not a single pretty melody, the arrangements are horrendous, nothing to save. Almost the same for Ballad of The Mighty I, except for Marr's nice arpeggios towards the end. But the rest of the song is shit.
The Girl With X-Ray Eyes is boring as fuck, the 5 other songs are either alright or good.

Usually I agree with most of what you say lubeck, but there is so much that I DISAGREE with in this post that I'm not even going to make a full analysis of it. Just wow.

songs I like on CY: riverman the girl with the X-ray eyes (great chord progression and melody) the right stuff the mexican while the song remains the same
songs I'm indifferent to: ballad of mighty I lock all the doors you know we can't go back
songs I skip: in the heat of the moment dying of the light
I'd say I'm indifferent to the b-sides/bonus tracks too
