I am one of the ones that believes he will eventually stop touring. Maybe a gig here and there in London, MCR and Ireland and that's it. It doesn't seem he enjoys it much really. That being said, he'll probably continue recording music till the very end. By the way, I understand Noel is paying for all the "marketing" of the album right? I think maybe he just didn't want to spend much this time. Or at all. Starting to think he really doesn't care how it sells. He just knew rkid would keep giving him free publicity through social media. Negative publicity, sure, but I doubt there's anyone who's ever liked Oasis who isn't aware Noel has an album out next week.

I have a feeling WBTM? may be Noel's first album not to hit no.1, though. Christ, can you imagine the crowing from Liam if that happens?

Sounds like playing live maybe isn't that exciting to him anymore.

Most revenue comes from touring these days though. Record sales aren't what they were and streaming doesn't bring in the same kind of dough. Whether they like it or not, bands and artists have to go on tour to bring in the money to recoup the expenses of recording and promoting an album and Noel is no different. Maybe even more so because it's all self released stuff. There's also his employees which i believe he's been working with for a lot of years, that he likes very much and wont let go like that. As for cost of producing records, all his demos, some that are even on DBTT, were recorded in his own studio with little to no cost. So it's not the problem. But his income his, i dont think he'd like to see it drop and he needs a lot to maintain his label. So a relatively small tour (this next one seems smaller ?) + a few good paying festivals and he would be ok i suppose. Studios still have a lot of overheads. He also pays engineers and assistants to be in the studio, he isn't doing everything alone in that respect. Regardless of that, if you want to release an album as big as a Noel Gallagher album, it's extremely expensive with money going out in so many directions and it requires an extensive tour to recoup money and eventually profit, that's really the top and bottom of it. The way the industry is now, as long as he has an album out, he will have to tour it for over a year.

Easy money.

i think the U2 tour was a way for him to get to play stadiums again. he obviously missed that. now that that's done i'm not so sure how jazzed he is to keep playing bigger venues.

So........................................Friday is the day? Not necessarily. Out of the six 'singles' put out by the Gallagher brothers this year, only one of them was released on a Friday (Chinatown). It's a Beautiful World could be released any day now.

Not so sure myself, I expect he was just offered a decent wedge by people he gets on with and said, yeah why not? Gives Gem and Chris a bit of practice with the band before the new album and tour as well. Probably earnt enough to cover the cost of recording the new album.

Yep. Noel just doesn't matter to the mainstream anymore and only his most ardent fans care about this fact. Aside from all time greats, think of the mainstream 20 some odd years ago when Oasis was new, can you name anyone aside from a handful of bonafide world recognized legends (I'm talking the biggest names) that were charting at a consistently high level or needed a level of publicity to have a commercial standout? Hell, Bob Dylan was 53 in 1994. It's consistently apparent that Noel doesn't care anymore. Enough people buy his albums and go to his shows to maintain his bank account and lifestyle. If he doesn't want to do 1000 interviews with people asking the same questions over and over again or other monotonous nonsense that is required for publicity, he shouldn't have to. He doesn't have to. If something is strong enough, it gets heard. If Noel has that in him still, it will happen. Fans of his should be thankful that he's still creating and still touring. It's not going to last forever. He seems like the type that will eventually tire of it and be content living off the consistent fortune that will benefit him and his family long after he's gone. I agree with all of that except the last part. Noel will make music until he dies. A songwriter like that can not stop. Maybe for a few years, but he cant help it, it's part of him and i see him releasing records until the very last day. Making music, yes. Releasing regularly is not. That comment was more about touring than albums.

Im starting to think they might have given up completely. We havent heard a single word since Fort Knox, Noel's managment is beyond ridiculous. Im starting to think the bad reaction to the first tunes really got to him maybe he thinks when people hear the full album they'll have a better chance of liking it...
