'Universal gleam' is such a terrible phrase as well.

It sounds half finished to me, i know it's not, but it sounds it.
Considering it's about 4 minutes long, it doesn't really go anywhere. It sounds like it's always waiting for the drums to kick in at some point but it doesn't happen. I know the drums coming in and driving the song at some point would be very generic in terms of arrangement, but it would still do the song a world of good. I can't comment on the studio version, i might have other instrument arrangements that allow the song to keep moving for the duration of it, but live with just guitars and a shaker and very minimal drumming it just loses steam halfway through. I can only assume the studio version will contain things they're not reproducing live, or it's placed at a point in the album where it needs a breather.
People are comparing it to Tender, i see that, but Tender has a great arrangement. The drums and bass don't really change rhythm but the chord progressions, melodies, the way it switches singer when Coxon brings his bit in and then the choir later keep the songs momentum going. And that's really the difference between a great writer/arranger and an average one.
As i say though, i'll reserve my final judgement until i hear the album version. The song does actually have potential but seems to run out of ideas pretty quickly.

Plodding piece of shite. Could do without it on the album.
The Quiet Ones 2.0.

My least favorite track of the new ones. Hopefully it'll be only a bonus track

How can anyone tell quality from mostly crappy live recordings?
I haven't listened to any of the live tracks, but it boggles my mind how anyone can judge at this point.

We have pretty good video from today, recorded by BBC, it's not perfect but it's not phone recording. Sound is pretty clear, Liam is singing great, 3 female backing singers supporting him, horns... Yes, you can get pretty good idea about song. And don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it's shit.

I actually thought that was his worst vocal performance of the set. It was average at best, i thought he really struggled with it but like i said, i still have not listened to the song on the higher quality pro shot that now exists.

Because the recordings today were really good quality and a lot of the new tunes sounded mega...Makes judging them quite easy really.

Even with good quality live recordings that doesn't actually give you a good idea about what it will sound like on the album. Wall Of Glass for instance sounds slightly different and lacks instruments which are very prominent on the studio version.
I can't judge a song based on a live performance. I prefer to wait until I hear the fully produced studio version.

Think its great personally.
If the whole album has more of the brass and backup singers it'll sound great in the studio. Hyped.

What a fucking waste of a thread. What a fucking waste of time. We've come so far in the technological sphere to get to this point. Embarrassing.

I thought it sounded really good, I liked all the new songs today. Was a great set for Liam at the biggest festival of the year.
