Curious to see thoughts between the two performances and their impact on opinions now.
Lots of people bashed Paper Crown from Ritz. After Brixton, it's getting lots of praise now.

If its produced right we have Liam's best post Oasis song quite easily.
If its produced wrong then we have Beat Goes On Part 2.
Wall Of Glass has proved to me that with the right production, that voice can literally make good songs great and great songs legendary. Paper Crown has the best melody i've heard him sing in a decade so we might be talking about the latter.
I use the word "might" because i see how bad some of our comments looked post DGSS and HFB

It will be his "Wonderwall". In that it'll be the ones that mum and dads know.
If it's done right. And seeing as it's been done by that Greg fellow, it will be.
The last bridge with the "Talking heads don't make a sound" line...ooof. Knockout.

From what I've heard from the live recordings the song doesn't really do it for me. That's not to say it's a poor song, it's just that I prefer the 'rockers'

I hated it because that first verse sounds 70 % like song I've written when I was 18/19 and I thought it was shit and not even b-side material. So, my first impressions were:
1) lazy songwriting 2) The Beat Goes On II
But! Everybody kept saying how good it is so I decided to give it another chance. And yeah, it's still everybody who knows 3 chords can write this/teenage girls Japanese band/average Beady Eye/The Beat Goes On part 2 type of song.

Even if this song has the most lumpen production, it's still going to be MILES AND MILES better than the 'Tweenies Do Oasis' tribute song, The Beat Goes On. There's absolutely no risk of this tune turning into that nonsense.
Paper Crown is a really good song. The Beat Goes On was never remotely good. There's nothing to worry about - Liam will deliver this one just fine.

So it's either his Wonderwall or a successor to The Beat Goes On. Sorted.

I think its mainly the production that makes Beat Goes On like that. Why they thought of putting those awful effects on Liams i dont know. They definetely learned their lesson for BE and let it come across alot more natural. Think the reason Worlds Not Set In Stone didnt make BE is because that went down a similar route.

What can I say other than after the harmony part in the second audience, the Brixton crowd actually clapped and "oohed".
That's gotta be a good sign.
