CD101 here in Columbus, Ohio, is playing Wall of Glass right now for the first time. And right before they did, the program director, who is a HUGE Oasis fan, said they've been told WOG is just a taster and that the lead U.S. single will be announced shortly.
Wonder what it will be?
Also: DAMN it sounds good to hear Liam's voice blaring through my radio speakers.

I long thought Oasis should cater their single choices based on market going as far back as Be Here Now. Don't Go Away makes that album #1 in America.

So, we're getting two tracks, possible within a month of each other, but no album for 5 months.
Just weird.

This might be the most hype he ends up having. I hope it's not, but it's not like Liam has a track record, apart from Oasis, of putting out successful projects.

Going to wikipedia, it says Don't Go Away was a single in Japan only. But based on my memory (I was 9 at the time), Don't Go Away was the second single here in Canada. I also don't recall Stand By Me being a single.

Assuming the record is totally complete with all facets of promotion almost ready, lets get this baby out. Summer tour. Loads of buzz.

I also don't recall Stand By Me being a single. America got DYKWIM? first. Came out early July to much MTV and VH1 fanfare. It was 7 min long despite being a cool video. It didn't get any rotation or radio play after those initial weeks and BHN was still almost 2 months away. That album basically dropped in America without a supportive radio single being played. Don't Go Away was released on the radio in either late September or early October in America. Couldn't stop the leak.

Unless they do what john mayer recently did with his new album and release it in waves. john mayer released a single then a wave of 4 songs a few weeks later than another wave of 4 songs in the following weeks then eventually the full album. i really think this is whats going to happen, it didn't look right having everyone jumping / screaming and singing along the oasis songs, then dead silence for all the new ones.

For What it's Worth is supposed to be a 'big ballad' so I'm betting that will be the next single here and the first in the US. Sounds like it could be the most radio friendly. Wall of glass is more of a teaser of Liam's return

Makes sense, like in HC the first US single was SCYHO. I guess they bet more on the ballads to be succesful outside of the UK (and it's kind of true, unfortunately)

I would imagine that the "first" USA single won't drop until way closer to the albums release. No need to do it now with the album not even being announced. It would be a wasted effort to push it hard here. Granted it might not do the business anyways. People think Oasis broke up in 1996 over here. I also think that the "first" USA single will also be the UK's second single.
