One of my first posts on here. 👋🏻. Wall of glass did great, of course didn't blow everyone on the planet away but for an indie rock song to do so well and reach so many people with the biased music industry and charts was great. However, I think that Chinatown will go one way or the other, two completely different ways. It's (painful to say) similar to the likes of Harry Styles, Niall Horan etc and with Liam's momentum could get right up there once people here it. But with no YouTube video, not like YouTube is some massively powerful media, but with it getting to the majority of people late after it was realised it could just not enter at all and just disappear and we don't see Liam in the charts until Greedy Soul or something else.

If it enters the charts at all (meaning top 100) with absolutely no promotion and being given away to people who pre ordered the album, then its safe to say his name is massive. I think thats already been proved by the success of Wall of Glass anyway. The over the top reaction to Beady Eyes sales (still good sales when comapred to any other indie band) was ridiculous on here.

Is it even eligible with the new rules for what counts as a single? ----- Wall Of Glass is still top 50 after 5 weeks.... so Liam has had a pretty good result for sure.

Chinatown charts at 37 in the mid week update, if a video is released now it might even end up a top 40 single after all. And wall of glass fell down to 45 which is still really great for the 6th week.

I don´t find it surprising regarding WoG, i think Chinatown is more impressive actually regarding the lack of press it had. But Warner knew what they were doing with WoG, it´s a very commercial catchy tune, it gets a bit repetitive after a while but it´s the tune he needed to get his name out there again.

I apologize if this has been addressed.. does pre-sale vinyl count? And how does it work/count with the deluxe album purchases? Is each vinyl, cd, and song streamed counted separately? Thanks in advance. I'm waiting for my father to get out of surgery, so I'm trying to keep myself occupied on something else. 😉

So...predictions for China Town? It doesn't have the same attention as the Wall of Glass release did in the general public and also isn't as instantly appealing, so probably won't reach the same highs. Hopefully it scrapes top 40 but I'm thinking it may end up 50-60 range. #56. Should've put my money where my mouth is

How is WoG performing in comparison to TDOYAM & WAL? Without causing a riot.

How is WoG performing in comparison to TDOYAM & WAL? Without causing a riot. Comparing 2017 charts/sales with those in 2011 is a difficult (imo impossible) comparison to accurately make. Since then, streaming's become significantly more popular and sales less so. Even though the charts account for this, it's kinda arbitrary, like with how the other week the weighting that streaming has was instantaneously halved, which makes even comparing this week's charts with those of the week before redundant. Then again, you could look just at the sales charts for this year (Wall of Glass peaking in the 2nd week at #4 and Chinatown starting at #36), but again, sales have decreased a lot, so a direct numerical comparison is almost impossible. "Chinatown" has already disappeared from the top 100, despite the official video being released at last.

"Wall of glass" is at #69 in the charts (last week #57; 8 weeks charting in total). I wonder if it's soon going to be topped by "Wonderwall" which is currently at #71 (same as last week)...
