Leeds United have dismissed rumours suggesting that Paolo Di Canio could make a return to English football at Elland Road.
The 35-year-old left West Ham at the end of last season and his agent had suggested that Leeds were interested in a deal.
Matteo Roggi said: "We are talking to a couple of clubs, Leeds in England and Siena in Italy. But his first choice would be to play in England."
However, United manager Peter Reid said that after an initial inquiry, he had made no further move for the controversial Italian.
He told the club's official website: "I did have talks with his agent, but it didn't go any further."
Di Canio had been in British football since the summer of 1996, having also played for Celtic and Sheffield Wednesday.
