Metros, Quakes Play to 4-4 Thriller
Eight goal match goes down to the wire. U.S. National Team forwards Landon Donovan and Clint Mathis exchanged goals inside a minute during second half added time as the San Jose Earthquakes and the MetroStars played to a thrilling 4-4 tie in a wide open match at Giants Stadium on Wednesday night. The MetroStars (6-4-3, 21pts) had taken the lead three times during the match, only to see San Jose (6-2-5, 23pts) come back to equalize time and again.
Had the honors of taking DS to a Metrostars game with the company of our favorite Live4ever Webby and his son. It was a great time yet i think it was very subdued compared to what DS is used to in England. Well I think he is always used to his team Sunderland losing (every week) , so maybe this was more exciting but in a not so drunk way??
It was a blast and definitely a high scoring match up. Donovan did not come into the game until the second half of regular time for the Quakes, and when he did it added to the excitement. The best excitement was when a Quakes benchwarmer whipped one of the Metrostars guys with a towel when he went into the bench area for the ball. Turned into a bit of a scuffle and lead to a red card, but to red card a guy on the sidelines was pretty humorous.( i think thats what happened) I was too busy looking at all of the hot guys on the field to even pay attention. Oh wait- I wasnt supposed to mention that- just game highlights....my bad. ;D
