When Johnny goes marching down the wing, O'Shea, O'Shea... [glow=green,2,300]Rep. of Ireland 2-1 Australia[/glow]
Just back from the above par friendly between the two teams. The most exciting action in the first half was Bret Emertons (I think) rattling shot against the Irish crossbar. A big concern for Ireland and Spurs fan is Robbie Keane. He went down heavily late in the half after he had Ireland best chance of the half. It is reported thats it ankle ligament damage. Lets hope he is OK for the Russia match next month. Matt Holland went off after 20' after a hard challenge from Okan but he looks OK. The second half started lively. Leeds' Mark Viduka gave the Socceroos the lead on 49' after Andy O'Brien only got half a boot to a clearence. Viduka controlled Lazlands cross and buried the ball past a helpless Colgan. It wasn't till Ireland made a few subs they got back into the match. Ian Harte coming on for his 50th cap set up the man keeping him out of the team, John O'Shea, for his first ever senior goal. Seven minutes later another sub, Clinton Morrison (IN his first game since Febuary) beat the off-side trap to agonoisly slide the ball home after an earlier bad miss. This is his 5th goal in 11 games, great scoring record considering he only has started 2 or 3 games. Man of the Match Nick Colgan, on his first start saved brilliantly from a one on one with Viduka. Lineups: Ireland: Colgan, Carr, O'Shea, Cunningham (c), Breen, Finnan, Holland, Kinsella, Duff, Keane, Doherty. Subs: Harte, Dunne, Kilbane, Healy, Quinn, O'Brien, Morrison, Connolly. Australia: Schwarzer, Neill, Foxe, Popvic, Bresciano, Emerton, Chipperfield, Okon, Tiatto, Lazaridis, Viduka. Subs: Aloisi, Grella, Vidmar. Plus I predicted a 2-1 win before the match but the bookies were closed when I tried to go in and I forget about the one at the far side of the ground
