PARIS (AP) - A top Manchester United official is expected at Paris Saint-Germain on Friday, hoping to negotiate the transfer of Brazilian star Ronaldinho, a newspaper report said.
The French sports daily L'Equipe said Thursday that United chief executive Peter Kenyon will have talks with PSG's director Francis Graille. Ronaldinho has kept quiet about a possible transfer. United is facing stiff competition from Spanish giant Real Madrid to sign him.
Manchester United, which recently sold star player David Beckham to Real Madrid for $56-million Cdn, has cash to spend and a huge hole to fill in midfield.
Paris SG's press officer Mathias Barbera could not confirm whether Kenyon is meeting with Graille, or if Ronaldinho was expected to stay with the French side for next season.
"He's under contract with us, that's all I can say," Barbera said in a telephone interview.
Ronaldinho, 23, previously refused to comment on whether he would leave, saying that he'd wait until the end of Brazil's involvement in the FIFA Confederations Cup before clarifying his position.
Brazil, which has won five World Cups, was knocked out of the competition Monday following a 2-2 draw with Turkey - prompting speculation that Ronaldinho would finally make his position clear.
