It wasn't me who said that Liam knows nothing about producing music that was Andy Morris and that's why I said what I did in my reply. And, I know that he's been making music for 30 years which must give him some experience of it surely. Yeah sorry I was agreeing with you in a long winded way. It's ok. I think that Liam is more talented than what some people give him credit for. It's a shame that he struggles with writing a chorus and usually needs help but we know that he's mainly a singer and not a songwriter.

Not everyone can be Noel Gallagher, which is the problem when people insist on beating Liam with the song writing stick. It's like taking a tank to a fist fight. If Liam can write a whole bunch of verses but needs help with the choruses, that becomes a co-write and Liam's name absolutely should be on the song-writing credits. I don't think there's any shame in that and doesn't mean he isn't talented. Same goes if Liam has ideas, suggestions, makes edits and helps with the phrasing, pacing and of course delivery of the lyrics and melody.

Absolutely this. I think I can pretty reliably tell which parts Liam did and didn't write on his albums, in fact it tallies pretty well with what he says about being able to write verses and that's about it. Same. I like playing that game even though I could be entirely off the mark in some cases, hahaha. Don't mind there being some mystery behind it, though I get that some really hunger for the "he came in with these chords and I came up with this bit" stories. I'm sure we all have songs we think originated at least partially with Liam (lyrically or melodically) and others that originated entirely with Wyatt, Kurstin or Aldred, but does it matter? Can't see why Liam, a singer with an absolute one-off, one-of-a-kind voice that is both instantly recognizable and instantly emotional to a lot of people, shouldn't have the freedom to sing some songs that he feels a link to but didn't come up with. If he changes a few things and takes a few percentage points of the publishing that's just pretty much how it's done these days. So long as the writers are being fairly compensated (key) and getting their due from Liam, which from what I can tell is the case, seems all good. (Still not seen an actual example of Liam claiming to having written stuff he didn't.) If a listener doesn't like the songs he chooses, then oh well, them's the disappointing breaks, but the point is that Liam likes them.

This is where i respectfully disagree. In the interviews i read for the second record, and they are grey enough to make it seem like Liam has major, or some input in all the songs. When in fact he probably doesn't, bar the Come on or the Yeah yeah. It's never really explained in details how those songs are written, and Liam obviously tries to not talk about it. As for the 10 track album written by only Liam Gallagher, it will happen someday. I'm hopeful. Who would have thought Liam would end up singing industry songs ? No one. So it can happen still. Hmmm, could you maybe link an example of an interview youβve seen where he talked as if he had written most of the songs on the 2nd album? Such is my obsession I'm afraid that Iβve seen/read a large number of interviews in the last several yearsβ¦and I have never once seen Liam come across like that. Totally the opposite. Liam in The Guardiian: βIdeally, you want to do it yourself,β he said. βBut I canβt write those fucking big songs. Iβm limited. My verses are up there, but I just canβt do that next bit." Liam in Entertainment Weekly: βI love music, full stop. Iβd love to be able to write a whole album, but thatβs just not the way it is. I donβt really sweat over it. I just want to be a part of good music. Iβm not into music to make money. I already have enough money. So Iβm not one of them persons who go out to write a song because I need to get a publishing deal. I couldnβt give a fβk about that. I just want to make good music and get out on the road and play good music to the people who come to the concerts and thatβs it.β Liam in Paste: While many people are probably itching to hear an album entirely penned by βour kid,β Liam just doesnβt think his writing skills are up to snuff. βIβve tried,β Gallagher says. βIt wouldnβt happen. Iβm good at verses. I can bang out verses all day long, but when it comes to the choruses, I need someone else to do that. Thatβs only because of the guitar playing really, so I prefer to pass it on for the choruses.β He's constantly saying heβs relied heavily on Kurstin and Wyatt and heβs constantly saying he doesnβt believe he can write an album (or at least not the kind of album he'd like to make) on his own. I can see how you might disagree with him or think he hasnβt tried hard enough, but I canβt see how he is lying. I totally respect that you find it distasteful that Liam works with βindustry writers.β For me, it is what it is. Itβs really hard to imagine how Liam could just have teamed up with another band after having had the Oasis experience and he felt he wasnβt going to get there completely on his own, so he found a way. Also, though I made a silly joke about it, I donβt think thereβs anything wrong with dreaming of him 100% writing an album. Maybe he will. Life is full of unexpected turns. Iβd love to see it happen. But I just donβt think itβs fair to say he has taken credit for othersβ work unless you can produce an example. This still won't be good for ol' Andy Morris

And, of course there's no shame in working with other song writers when Liam or any other musician for that matter needs help whether it's for a chorus of a song or for any other part of one. But Liam can write a good song if he puts his mind to it.

According to CP Company, the maker, the goggle jacket is βthe undisputed icon of their brand,β so there ya go. Donβt dispute it. Apparently, CP originally made the jacket in the late 80s for drivers doing endurance races in super harsh conditions β the idea being to provide full face protection from sand and wind (and I suppose locusts or who-knows-what) integrated into a sporting design. (Had no clue about any of this, Iβm just a poor research addict who can't help herself.) Theyβre not cheap, but for anyone brave enough to see if they can pull this look off, there is a US $10 knockoff goggle hat on Amazon!

My thoughts exactly. Those goggles look pretty silly to me. Liam is known to wear awful hats before now but there's no need to wear awful hoods as well.

I'm perfectly happy for Liam to throw Kurstin and Wyatt a melody here and there and allow them to construct it from there on. He's got the melodic ability in abundance but just needs that craft to make it sound complete and full. That said, there are a few songs of his almost entirely penned by him that are excellent (Greedy Soul I believe?).

That said, there are a few songs of his almost entirely penned by him that are excellent (Greedy Soul I believe?). When I first heard he was working with other writers this is exactly the scenario I had in mind. Liam passing on all those Start Anews and Shine A Lights that had the good verses and bridges but never had that chorus or complete structure. So many of Liams songs fall into this category. But I don't think Liams attitude towards his own songwriting has been right since Beady Eye. It obviously knocked him a lot. The narrative that he was a good songwriter from the days of Songbird, and the last two Oasis albums. That just slowly diminished because of an already constructed narrative that Beady Eye just couldn't cope without Noels songs. So by the time As You Were came out, Liam would very rarely (if ever) mention the fact it was mainly written by him and point towards the help he got as the success behind it all. Something I don't believe is true at all. Then this leads to an album completely written by others and I find that a real waste because we lose something in all of that. (As much as I do like that record).

It's clear that Liam needs help with his song writing most of the time. But that said most of the songs which he wrote in Beady Eye I did like and it's a shame that things didn't work out in the end for them. But his songs he's written so far in his solo career like Bold, Greedy Soul, I Get By, Universal Gleam and I've All I Need are much better than the ones he wrote for Beady Eye. I really hope that in the future he will write more songs instead of co-writing them all like on Wny Me Why Not.
